Raspberry PI 2 and Worldcommunity Grid support

Please excuse me if this question was asked in a previous post.

I recently purchased a raspberry pi 2. This device has a quad core at 900mhz and 1 GB or ram. it runs on low power.
I would like to use it to have it run WCG 24/7 as it won't use much electricity. With the increasing electric prices, i will be forced soon to stop contributing. I would like to find an alternative, cheap alternative as cheap beer :)
by cheap i mean cheap electrical foot print and also RBP 2 has a low environmental footprint.
I have managed to install WCG on on but it won't run it.
can we get some development on this GPU. I don't believe it would be too hard as WCG is running on smart phones now and RBP 2 has a similar GPU used on phones.

thank you in advance,

Re: Raspberry PI 2 and Worldcommunity Grid support

The raspeberry pie 2 device is pretty weak. Plus I am not sure there are many WCG users or potential WCG users with one to justify the development (among other things).

You could run WCG just on some hours a day.

What is the CPU of your computer?

Re: Raspberry PI 2 and Worldcommunity Grid support

WCG is not running on a raspberry pi 2 or any other device running linux on an arm processor.
There are no applications available that support linux on arm.
The only support for arm is running android. At the moment you can only run OET on android. I didn't count FAH because it has ended.

Re: Raspberry PI 2 and Worldcommunity Grid support

Scientists haven't ported GPU apps on WCG...let alone extra devices like R PIs!

Also keep in mind that WCG version of BOINC doesn't support R PIs...maybe with next version? ;)

There is a BOINC app for Android. Check the Play Store.

Re: Raspberry PI 2 and Worldcommunity Grid support

Over 8 million Pi's were sold in 4 years. ARM processors are getting more and more powerful. The Pi has a good points/watt relation.

Has anyone successfully ran WCG projects on this android app on a Pi?

Re: Raspberry PI 2 and Worldcommunity Grid support

You can see that over at BOINCStats under the Host CPU and Host OS breakdown sections... there's like 10,000 variations [no longer do Androids get summarized since something on their servers broke]
