How do I get BOINC to read the app_config.xml from command line?
----------------------------------------I'm running CEP2 and don't want to restart the service as this would lose any none-checkpointed work and restart too many tasks at the same time which will cause issues and errors. I have no GUI access to these machines and want to change the app_config file, but how do I get boinc to read it? Thanks

The read command is integrated with the cc_config in the GUI, so expect that if you do this via the command line, the app_configs in the project folders are tagged on. Let us know the outcome of your trial.

I suppose Rob is saying, try it with the command
boinccmd --read_cc_config I too think that all app_config.xml's will reread also. |

And indeed, when doing boinccmd --read_cc_config the event log shows...

Just a thought on staggered starting, if scripted skillfully, this is a possible way to make it happen... increment the <max_concurrent> value in loop with pauses of whatever seconds. This could work at both a clean start [after running dry] and a client restart.

OK, so I tried that the message returned was:
----------------------------------------retval 0 How can I check the tasks that are actually running? --get_state - returns a list of all 400 odd tasks but, I can't see the running ones...

Nice idea Rob, however, that's well beyond me! lolCEP2 never appears to have a problem with supply so shouldn't have a problem. Also I only define the number of CEP2 tasks and let Boinc do the rest of the cores/threads

The retval 0 is the 'correct' response.
boinccmd --get_messages seqno (Never understood why manuals are written, and still don't know why ;) |
