Hi,
----------------------------------------on May 12th and 13th, one of my hosts (Athlon x4, running Ubuntu 14.04) experienced about 15 invalid WUs, batch OET1_0000800_xEBGP-F_rig_ However, the other computed WUs on this host are OK. Maybe a pairing issue? Cheers, Yves |

It's always possible the same set of work went to one wingman there's no match with. Homogeneity can always be lurking in the far. Given yours went invalid, your device will then have been the outlier. Were yours the verifiers... _1 copies?

----------------------------------------I know the result validation mechanism very well. I've just mentioned the problem since it appeared from May 12th after a long quiet time. In the meantime I have about 30 invalid units with this host. The reason for the post is that I was surprised to observe such a behavior after the mentioned long quiet time. It is interesting to notice that invalid units occurred mostly on the Athlon x4 host with Ubuntu, whatever the Ubuntu version is (10.04, 12.04 or now 14.04). I have a second identical host, still running Win XP Pro x32, only with very rare troubles but with a worst overall performance (between 30 and 50% poorer performance). Cheers, Yves |

Last week I saw an Invalid WU, today I noticed an Invalid again. Don't see Invalids that often. So I tried to find anything odd about this case. Couldn't find anything odd so far.

was wrong with these two, what the difference is from the Valid one. Referring to https://secure.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewthread_thread,6105 - "Invalid - The result was returned to the server and was not found to be equal to the majority of results returned for the workunit", this wouldn't apply to this situation: there is one Valid, so the two Invalids outnumber the only Valid one. The description dates from the time that things were normal, quorum 2. Even with zero redundant there'd be a second verifier if the first went PVer and the 1st verifier would not match. This ending in 2 Invalid, 1 Valid throws doubt [Before some point, verifiers and repairs only went to full reliable hosts [A, quick returner, B, rated as not having had an error for the app in the last 10-20 runs]. Somewhere that departed from, repairs/verifiers also going to none reliable, but then 2 copies needing to be valid. Summation: Don't know for sure where we stand these days with permanent rules of Zero Redundant and Quorum 2. Essentially, if the rules been changed, they need to be communicated to the Start Here/Community FAQ maintainers [used to be me most of the times], or the rule changer needs to amend/clarify the FAQ.

Just for the record.
----------------------------------------On the same machine (Athlon II x4) as mentioned in the starting post, I experience again a lot (>20%) of invalid (never errored) WUs for OET1 since a couple of weeks. But the other OET1 WUs computed by this machine are OK. Since this problem is recurrent with VINA based projects since several years and only on this host (in the past Ubuntu 10.04, later 14.04, now Linux Mint 17.2/3), I start to believe that the trouble cause resides in the CPU (maybe a Step behaving differently than the majority of the other similar CPU). I have a Athlon II x4 640 with 4Gb RAM running Ubuntu Server 12.04 LTS 64-bit. It's been dedicated to OET1 for months. I have not experienced any invalid OET1 WUs recently.
