Just received a mail from BOINCBAM, sthg like this:
----------------------------------------Dear KLiK, The folowing hosts have not communicated with BAM! for a long time and will be removed from our database when they do not communicate within one week. Please note that this does not affect your statistics in any way! Last communication Hostid Hostname 2014-04-22 19:46:52 510263 Antun-Toshiba-C I personally think that WCG should have the something similar...not that you should remove devices from your lists...just that you mark some device that haven't been hooked on network...& let us know! |

Until something better comes along you can go to My Contribution -> Device Statistics to see how long it's been since your crunchers last returned results. This is not updated continuously, but if you scan the bottom of the list you can see if a cruncher is flagging.

LoL, the way it works is that every [clean] reinstall generates a new device at WCG [no merging, still]. That will be a lot of [annoying] mails generated by WCG. Got 59 to my name, but including dual boot [oh dear, another source for such a mail], really there's only 4. Frankly, if I choose not to run devices due to heat or because the 'budgeted' crunching watts have been exceeded, I really seriously would -Not- want to receive any reminder. [The cited ''last return'' info on the device stats is good if wanting the take the pulse on remote devices, so WCG is tooled for those interested to see a list, expandable by playing the filter options]
WCG sends a one-time 'where have you gone' when not returning anything for 3-4 weeks, which works for some percent as win-backs. BTW, the BOINCStats mail is generated I think after 1 year [the date of that mail seems to confirm that]. |
