I've been attached to OET for several months and have NEVER gotten a single WU, while MCM and FAH have gotten many, many WUs
So, just for Ss&Gs I disabled all projects except OET, and lo and behold I start getting WUs from OET! WTF!! Is there some hidden logic somewhere that I am missing? I thought that the Umbrella Project (WCG) would time slice the subordinate projects so that ALL selected projects get some of my cycles?? |

I am getting them with FAHV.

Is there some hidden logic somewhere that I am missing? Yes. OET1 is a low priority project. When run with normal priority projects you will get few if any WUs. |

keputnam, may I suggest the following, if it's feasible (it's what I do): Depending on the % you want to crunch (50%-50%?), select OET for one day and the next day select the other project. If you can't do this daily, then do as often as you able.

While I COULD do that, I refuse to baby-sit BOINC. It is designed to do timeslicing by itself.
Guess I'll just keep OET, MCM and FA@H all selected, and if and when the OET admins pull their heads from where the sun don't shine, they can have whatever cycles the scheduler throws their way |

Don't start a flame war over it by insulting people. Boinc is doing exactly what the WCG techs are telling it to do. They have prioritized the weight given to each subproject. If you have projects selected which are normal weight selected with projects which are low weight, you will get the vast majority of the WU's with the normal weight. I do not know the exact proportions, but based on past experience and what others have posted, it is probably somewhere about 90% normal weight and 10% low weight, maybe even less. Cheers

Guess I'll just keep OET, MCM and FA@H all selected... I refuse to baby-sit BOINC... This sounds like a good plan, as long as you don't want to get any OET1 WUs. Everyone who does not run with "Participate in All Projects" selected, is babysitting to a degree. Running projects at differing priorities is well thought out by WCG, and has been discussed extensively here. There are many ways to achieve your crunching goals, or you could do as the vast majority of crunchers do, and leave "Participate in All Projects" selected, and forget about it. No babysitting required. [Edit 1 times, last edit by deltavee at Apr 19, 2015 2:43:46 PM] |
