confused "Detached" workunit?

Can someone tell me what it means when it says a workunit is "Detached"? I am assuming something failed, but I don't know what happened.

Detached - When a newer client gets dis-associated from this project with tasks still in the cache, will a message be send to the servers to ensure that these tasks get quickly redistributed. With older clients this would not happen and task copies would not get send until the "No Reply" condition occurred.

Re: "Detached" workunit?

Question for nittanylionfan88: Is your client attached to the BOINCStats account manager [BAM]?

Re: "Detached" workunit?

Yes it is attached to BAM.
It's strange because I didn't change anything, and, it is still working.
It just dropped a bunch of WUs as this "Detached".

Re: "Detached" workunit?

Yesterday I explained and many posts before that [actually critically important] to tick a box at BAM in the My Projects list, to "attach new host by default" on WCG line [click it and the box will appear]. Why BAM does what it does I don't know, but if the box is not ticked it will [sometimes/often?] do this to WCG.

Re: "Detached" workunit?

OK thanks. Actually, I thought I had it set that way, but I checked, and no.
So I set that, hopefully it'll be good from here.

Never had that happen before, so I thought it was strange. It seems like I've had a bunch go through OK since then, so I'm good.

I went back through the boinc message log. I didn't notice this the first time I checked and thought maybe this might have something to do with it:
3/21/2015 11:49:12 AM World Community Grid Generated new computer cross-project ID: ***********************

Anyway, thank you all for the feedback!

The FAQ has been updated to include a line on the 'BAM caveat'
