Hello all,
----------------------------------------Dr. Gerard P. Learmonth Sr., lead researcher of the Computing for Sustainable Water project, has assisted a colleague with a chapter in the book titled "Governance in the Information Era: Theory and Practice of Policy Informatics" - and World Community Grid gets a mention! Here is an excerpt from the book: "An example of this use in the exploration of policy alternatives for restoring and sustaining the health of the Chesapeake Bay Watershed is the University of Virginia’s Computing for Sustainable Water project. This very large-scale ABM was run on the IBM World Community Grid and examines the effect of a large number of proposed policy interventions. Preliminary analysis of the results of this simulation reveals that certain well-accepted policies for nutrient reduction (Best Management Practices) in the Chesapeake Bay are ineffective under plausible assumptions about human behavior."
