Add this PPA
----------------------------------------ppa:osmoma/audio-recorder update the repositores and search for Audio Recorder in Synaptic. It should appear in the 4th place: a package named audio-recorder. Version 1.4.5 "Audio Recorder For GNOME and Unity Desktops" Then just run it ![]() - AMD Ryzen 5 1600AF 6C/12T 3.2 GHz - 85W - AMD Ryzen 5 2500U 4C/8T 2.0 GHz - 28W - AMD Ryzen 7 7730U 8C/16T 3.0 GHz |

I re-read your post:
----------------------------------------Do you want to record audio using a microfone or do you want to record (burn) files to a CD?? If you want to record files to a CD, use Brasero, which should already be included in Ubuntu. ![]() - AMD Ryzen 5 1600AF 6C/12T 3.2 GHz - 85W - AMD Ryzen 5 2500U 4C/8T 2.0 GHz - 28W - AMD Ryzen 7 7730U 8C/16T 3.0 GHz [Edit 1 times, last edit by Falconet at Mar 19, 2015 8:44:50 PM] |

No, I'm not trying to burn CDs, I'm just making mp3 files on a thumb drive that I can plug into my car stereo.
I couldn't find audio recorder. Could it be that I'm searching in the wrong repositories? How do I update and correct my repositories? |

Go to your settings manager, software and updates (or programs and updates), "other software", add, enter the ppa I gave you above. Enter your password and then refresh (it should ask you to update the repositories).
----------------------------------------Then go to either synaptic and do what I told do you above, or, go to Ubuntu Software Center and search for audio-recorder. Only one package should appear and it should show as Audio Recorder for GNOME and Unity Desktops. Install it. And use the software. ![]() - AMD Ryzen 5 1600AF 6C/12T 3.2 GHz - 85W - AMD Ryzen 5 2500U 4C/8T 2.0 GHz - 28W - AMD Ryzen 7 7730U 8C/16T 3.0 GHz |

I added the ppa line when it asked for an APT line, then I selected the source code option as well (I don't know if that was necessary). Then I installed all updates and found it with synaptic!
Thank you so much, it works real nice! When I was adding the ppa line I noticed that my selected repositories are independent and not canonical. Should I go ahead and select Canonical as well? |
