Re: Maximum elapsed time exceeded and exception

Thanks Seippel. What caught my eyes more was the exception thrown. Not sure whether that was intentional..

Re: Maximum elapsed time exceeded and exception

I just saw a WU at 10% after 1 hour of computing time while the WU said "still 5 minutes to go". Ten minutes later the WU went from 20% to 30% and a few minutes later it jumped to 100%.
Another WU: after half an hour it's at 10%, after ¾ of an hour it's at 40% and lo and behold, after 00:48:45 it's at 100%.

I was about to cancel them when I saw they were still at 10% with a guestimated time of 46 minutes runtime, according to the WU, but I'm glad I left them running. smile

Re: Maximum elapsed time exceeded and exception

With 7.4 clients you can set a project app_config pref <fraction_done_exact/> to force the client to compute the remaining time as a factor of actual runtime and percent, so at 10% and 10 minutes it would tell there's about 90 minutes left, at 50 minutes at 50% it will show 50 minutes remaining. Tasks though not necessarily process linearly... most sciences at WCG compute in a non-deterministic fashion. This means the remaining time can always be off, the percent can be off too [CEP2 particularly]!

Re: Maximum elapsed time exceeded and exception

Should they typically be taking 11 to 14 hours to complete on an Intel i7 or is there something wrong with how my PC is processing them?

There are a number of new batches which are much longer at the moment.
Could you post the WU id?

Re: Maximum elapsed time exceeded and exception

OET1_0000630_xMGBG-OM_rig_62897_1 is about to finish after about 10 hours.

However that seems consistant with times suggested on another thread.

Re: Maximum elapsed time exceeded and exception

That should have been 13 hours

Re: Maximum elapsed time exceeded and exception

Yes mine are now running from 6 to over 12 hours. The 6 hour ones are on Linux 64 bit and the almost 13 hour one was on a Windows XP 32 bit machine (both computers are the same).
The awarded points are just 39.4.

Re: Maximum elapsed time exceeded and exception

There is another thread which is discussing the issue of the longer units, unrealistic estimates and the 39.4 point problem athere
