I suppose the FightAIDS@Home is a big project but if a project started 10 years ago isn't finished yet, i have only a question to do Houston we have a problem!!!.

Make that 'we' minus one, if not many, probably most. FightAIDS@Home is a work in progress, new experiments based on results from previous experiments and other global research findings in the fight against. That said, a virtual phase 3 will start sometime this year processing data on the grid from results achieved before on the grid with software named BEDAM. Watch the news and this forum space.

That is equivalent to saying they have been looking for a cure for 30 years and one hasn't been found.
----------------------------------------Science takes time. Sometimes results happen fast, sometimes they are more nuanced. I applaud the dedication of the researchers to stick to it. As long as there is a reason for this project to exist, there is no rush to end it. |

Regards well, that is a fact...but only on 1st sight! FightAIDS@home had some new developments...1st 2 stages have been finished, the 3rd is in a progress...why? we were targeting different portions in 1st stage of HIV with our crunching...then the 2nd stage did also the next part of the HIV & the cheching of 1st stage molecules...& now the 3rd stage targets another set of HIV... Also, note that 1st 2 stages are on molecule developemnt & testing right now! ;) check it out in the news: https://secure.worldcommunitygrid.org/about_u...amp;sortBy=&pageNum=1 ---------------------------------------- [Edit 1 times, last edit by KLiK at Jan 22, 2015 7:34:58 AM] |

From my experience in science and research: sometimes projects seem to develop a life of their own. IMHO, that's the best type of research.

There are 172 announced experiments on this project, plus at least one that has not yet been revealed, but for which work units have already been generated.
Most of the experiments are finished, but not always in order. http://fightaidsathome.scripps.edu/status |

I applaud the dedication of the researchers to stick to it. I double applaud the dedication of the crunchers! |

Regards Thank you zimar for pointing to such a big problem. I hope scientists will recognize it soon enough and start to work much faster on their tasks, so people like you and myself will not waste their (our) time with such losers experiments. I hope scientists will recognize it soon enough and start to work much faster on their tasks, so people like you and myself will not waste their (our) time with such losers experiments. With many kinds of experiments, such as those being done by the FightAIDS and Clean Energy projects, the results build on each other--so the can't just generate all kinds of work willy-nilly. Instead, they have to wait for all results of a particular experiment to come back, analyze the data, and then come up with new things to test. Unfortunately, science doesn't move as fast as it does in the movies, and I wouldn't want it to--rushing science generally produces lots of missed things and faulty results. ---------------------------------------- [Edit 1 times, last edit by noderaser at Jan 25, 2015 5:29:07 AM] |
