PIE coded work units yet?

Re: Position Independent Execution, (PIE)

I understand that Android 4.1+ supports PIE code,
and Android 5+ requires it.

I also understand PIE coded work units may help
prevent some/many work unit aborts/errors.

Can we expect PIE coded work units soon?
Which projects first?

Thank you,
Eddie Maddox

Re: PIE coded work units yet?

I suspected the sticky was referring to PIE coding.

Anyway, as in another thread already, my Nexus 7s
want their Android 5.0.2, too. I caught myself in time
and clicked, "Later".

I hope it won't be too long....

Re: PIE coded work units yet?

I updated my nexus 7 and regret it. Even if pie will work, nexus is extreme slow.
I considering downgrade.
Any similar experience?

I've not done this, but one way to "downgrade"
is to install CM11, I believe, from:
http://www.cyanogenmod.org/
Be sure to study up on that stuff if you go that route.
I've considered CM, but might wait for CM12.

Re: PIE coded work units yet?

wink Thx for info.
I just read in news that upgrade for boinc will solve the issue.
I also read that support for older versions of android is dropping.
So I changed my mind and I will stay on android 5.0.2 despite low speed.
If I motivate myself further...when nexus will be too slow I will buy new one. In this case I will not be hardware decision making thing but software wink

PIE code is supported in Android 4.1 and newer, mandatory in Android 5+.
So I would think they would only drop support for Android 4.0 and older.
