No problems really, but BETA_OET1_0000309_xMBGP-OM_rig_1526 has run for 9h:46m and completed 80%. This is on my i5 Laptop

Re: Beta Test - Outsmart Ebola Together - v7.14 - Jan 7, 2015 [ Issues Thread ]

Got 4 of the 311 batch. 2 have got their first checkpoint after around 3hrs 20mins other 2 have no checkpoint yet but only 1.5hr runtime. Did a suspend and restart after progress was approx 40%, after the restart the progress went back to 10% and now seem to be increasing in 10% increments, currently 4hrs RT and 20% progress.
Also 1 of the units reached 64% after 1hr 20mins without any restart and then by itself reverted back to 10% but RT is still increasing. Odd to see the progress change so much.

Re: Beta Test - Outsmart Ebola Together - v7.14 - Jan 7, 2015 [ Issues Thread ]

Got 3 units to run on a Xeon 5320 with Linux Mint 14. These two both finished in under 10 minutes so I did not get a chance to suspend and resume.
BETA_OET1_0000314_xEBGP-FW_rig_0011_1_0
BETA_OET1_0000314_xEBGP-FW_rig_0008_1_0

Edit: Both valid

This one looks like it will take about 1.5 hours so should get some suspends on this one.

Edit: It took 56 minutes and is valid.

BETA_OET1_0000314_xEBGP-FW_rig_1863_1

Once the daily update finishes I will know if they validated.

Cheers

Re: Beta Test - Outsmart Ebola Together - v7.14 - Jan 7, 2015 [ Issues Thread ]

Got 2 beta tasks and did some suspend/resume tests

On BETA_OET1_0000314_xEBGP-FW_rig_1149 each suspend/resume op appeared to increment the progress by 10%. Task finished in 8 mins instead of the estimated 1:31

Then tried the same testing on BETA_OET1_0000314_xEBGP-FW_rig_1142. The progress jumped by 10% for about half the suspend/resume operations. Task finished in 15mins instead of the estimated 1:31.

Maybe both tasks were just extremely fast?

Re: Beta Test - Outsmart Ebola Together - v7.14 - Jan 7, 2015 [ Issues Thread ]

I don't have such a fast machine that I could do a task from batch 309 so fast.
The short run time is because the task was suspended, but keeps on running in the background.
BOINC stopped counting the run time and also the elapsed time.
For the first task below BOINC noticed elapsed time 01:26:34 and CPU-time 01:25:42

Also a very high peak memory was noticed of 1604.81 MB.

Due to low reported times my wingman was punished too with lower credits.

Re: Beta Test - Outsmart Ebola Together - v7.14 - Jan 7, 2015 [ Issues Thread ]

I have just noticed that 3 of the betas (311 and 313) I picked up yesterday are still running with 17+ hours between last checkpoint and now. Should I leave them longer to see if they make any progress?

Re: Beta Test - Outsmart Ebola Together - v7.14 - Jan 7, 2015 [ Issues Thread ]

I watched 1 of these count up by fractions to over 10%, then next time I looked it was at 10.000% and up by 10% to 90%, then saw it at 10% again, unchanged after about 3 hours, then had ended an hour or so later when I next looked.

I had suspended 1 at checkpoint (at 70%?) to BoincTasks to suspend other at checkpoint then re-started PC. Don't see this in logs but do see earlier event due time re-sync or PC glitch.
May be logging and progress reporting are a bit iffy but validated so science OK.

I got a different situation in that the time was recorded correctly but, BOINC appears only to have claimed points credit for the short period prior to the suspend and restart of this exceptionally long running WU. I could approximately halve the execution time by halving the number of threads since I have Intel Hyperthreading (HT) configured. I've included the second longest running WU for comparison (in terms of points claimed and granted). Both of mine are the _1 WUs
