Q&A session with the World Community Grid team

As part of the Decade of Discovery marking 10 years of WCG, members were encouraged to introduce new volunteers to World Community Grid.

The 3 leading recruiters Jawor, IBM - Poland Roadranner, SETI.Germany Luiza Jinescu (no team) received an invite to an exclusive "Ask Me Anything" Q&A session with the World Community Grid team.

Despite only Roadranner having a forum presence I thought it might be useful if the forum community came up with some suggested questions. I would suggest that anyone contributing should offer 1 question only which should aim to enhance the community's overall knowledge i.e. not why a specific WU failed etc.

Mine:
If the 2013 Member Survey was so useful why has it not been repeated both to guage the success of work done as a result and to guide further developments.

Whatever form the Q&A does take I hope we may look forward to the publication of a transcript.

Re: Q&A session with the World Community Grid team

If I had 1 question, it'd be:
What's the ratio of projects that submit a proposal, and the rate that (for whatever reason), they fail to become a successful project that runs on the grid?

The reason why I'd like to ask this question, is to illustrate what a technical challenge getting a project to successfully launch on WCG is and all the hard work (that no one on this side of the fence sees) which goes on behind the scenes to ensure that the projects achieve the strict criteria required.

Re: Q&A session with the World Community Grid team

My question would be:

Would you consider changing the criteria under which the projects are selected so that we, the participants, can have a say in the projects running on the grid so that we get more projects that benefit smaller numbers of people too (fibromialgia, MS and other "rarer" diseases)?

Re: Q&A session with the World Community Grid team

My question is:
What's features is WCG 1) willing to implement and 2) planning to implement which provides volunteers with tangible acknowledgement of our donation, and what is the time frame for delivery of each, if any?

Badges have been discussed 'ad nauseam' in the forums. They are a form of recognition, but only internal to the WCG website. The concept of a 'certificate' was first floated several years ago. For many volunteers, we would simply like recognition of our value to WCG and to the world.
