Is 14 days the first badge for the Ebola project? It's the first badge for EVERY project (there used to be a couple exceptions in the past)... |

Congrats on the GOLD, but what's the trick to get WUs for the Ebola project? I've been active with that project since inception but have only been able to get 8 days. I've tried everything I can think of but just can't seem to get more that 6-8 WUs every week or so.

Congrats on the GOLD, but what's the trick to get WUs for the Ebola project? I've been active with that project since inception but have only been able to get 8 days. I've tried everything I can think of but just can't seem to get more that 6-8 WUs every week or so. There is a trick, but it's only worked for some of us. For me, it's only worked on 3 of my 12 machines. Here it is: 1) In the "My Projects" setting of the WCG website, create a unique profile for the machine you want to be fed OET work units. Select a single project OTHER THAN the ebola project. 2) In your BOINC client. Set the work buffer for around 1.0 to 1.5 days of work. And update the project. Let it load up 1 to 1.5 days of the project OTHER THAN ebola. 3) Go back into "My Projects" and change the unique profile you created in Step 1 to only ebola... uncheck all other projects. 4) In your BOINC client, increase the work buffer to around 4.0 days. That's it! Your machine will now try regularly for the next 1.0 to 1.5 days to fill that empty buffer with ebola work units. They are only issued in small batches, but your computer will keep "fishing" for them. If you're lucky, you queue will slowly fill up with OET work units. If not, your work buffer may empty and you'll have to reset it with work from other projects and try the trick again. There is more info in the other thread "no work units available". Good luck! |
