Getting Certificate errors

New install, using the latest/greatest client (7.4.27)

Getting message:
Scheduler request failed: Peer certificate cannot be authenticated with given CA certificates

The date/time is correct on my laptop. No proxy in use, Windows Firewall is allowing connections to/from WCG.

Ideas?

Re: Getting Certificate errors

That latest/greatest is a test agent, at least i thought until looking in on the official download page! Somehow it got promoted to recommended. There were some odd observations regarding ssl with that version and you're not alone having issue with 7.4.27 combined with wcg. Start reading here: http://boinc.berkeley.edu/dev/forum_thread.php?id=8649&postid=57318

In short, no ideas, but try reverting to 7.2.42 and see if things will go then. Get it here: http://boinc.berkeley.edu/download_all.php

Re: Getting Certificate errors

So I had this problem a while back and submitted some How-To's for the support team to upload onto the site, but don't think it went ahead.

But anyhoo, if you're using ESET Smart Security (which I am), you'll need to either disable application protocol filtering or add the BOINC client to the list of excluded applications (my recommendation).

ESET does some certificate chain validation by inserting itself in the chain as an intermediary CA; which 'breaks' the validation from the BOINC client point of view, but it makes Smart Security happy. As mentioned above, I suggest adding this to the exclusion list so you can have this benefit on all other applications on the computer, but still be able to run your WCG tasks.

Happy crunching!!

Re: Getting Certificate errors

Hello !

I am using BM 7.4.36 / W7 Ultimate and not ESET but Microsoft Internet Security. I will reload AVAST. (Had taken AVAST off because of problems with Yoyo and SR5Base)

Thank you for the info.

Best,

Phil1966
