Does not say what's in it, but this is a brand new development build http://boinc.berkeley.edu/dl/boinc_7.4.30.apk
This release is the first new for android since 7.4.14 Wait, just got a google mail list update from rom, indeed saying it's for android 4.1 and up using the pie model: Howdy Folks, I just deployed 7.4.30 to the beta channel in the Google Playstore. This release should address the issues with running BOINC on Android 5.0 devices. This release should only go out to devices that are Android 4.1 or better. If you don't want to wait, you can download it manually here: http://boinc.berkeley.edu/download_all.php Please report test results here: http://boinc.berkeley.edu/alpha/test_form.php?version=7.4.30 Please report regressions to boinc-android-testing@googlegroups.com. Thanks in advance. ----- Rom |

Already pulled from playstore and running on kitkat 4.4.4. Let's see if this release facilitates a lesser incidence than 16 percent going out with signal 11.

Please, could this be scheduled to happen soon. There's lollipoppers now who can't process fahv! |

It's strange not having a mildly warm Nexus 5

More mail:
Thanks David. I was afraid of this. I am a little frustrated however. If "position-independent executables" were needed, and the L Developer Preview had been out since June, why was no testing done? I posted about it before and I got a response regarding a lack of physical test devices. Android's developer tools come with emulators. Why couldn't one have been used? Yes, I know they're slow, but the reasoning behind the L Developer Preview is to test before the OS comes out publicly so that apps can be ready on launch day. Now, 5 months later, we need to wait again because project maintainers need to update things on their end. I'd imagine this would have been caught much earlier if someone over there just ran an emulator. Thanks for your understanding David, Dan As it is with the pie included build 7.4.30 on kitkat, the first 14 fahv scored 100 percent. At least that part demonstrates the new agent is good for android 4.1 and up. |

7.4.31 is now in playstore. This one properly reports the exact build of android to the servers so the correct version of science app can be send, pre-pie < android 4.1 or with pie android 4.1 and up.

I downloaded and installed 7.4.31 from http://boinc.berkeley.edu/download_all.php on my android 5.0 - Nexus 7 tablet.
App works now. I connected to World Community Grid and got several FightAIDS@Home - exercises. But every exercise ends immediate with a calculation error. I rebooted my tablet also and got new exercises - same Problem! |

The science app -too- has to be compiled for the 'position independent execution' model as enforced for lollipop. Seeing a note by uplinger that the new oet1 will be prepped for android, hope technicians do use the new boinc android api for this. They'd have to build 2 apps, one for pre android 4.1 and one for 4.1 and above. Since > 90 percent of android is of the latter, it'd be astounding if this did not get first priority, or there be more fallout, if there at all can be from the present participation.
Not seen posts of any other project that has moved on the requirement. The first doing so will be the one getting me to apply the waiting lollipop update and get 100 percent of computing time. |
