Re: coffee The Linux Team

Happy 2015 Linux crunchers! It's been a good year, seeing the team rising to position 213 by points. Whilst it uses slightly different metrics, this BoincSTATS chart clearly shows the general trend.

A warm welcome to our newest joiner yonaton, who's been busy crunching UGM WUs.

Welcome to long-time member arcanaemia, who (I think) joins us from UserFriendly.org.

Since the last update, team Linux has risen another 2 spots to position 211 by points.

Re: coffee The Linux Team

Welcome to maeel, arash59 and grimsrud who've joined us recently.

We've hit a few big milestones over the past year:

  • By August, we had contributed over 400 years of compute
  • In September, we surpassed 1 million results
  • and then proceeded to 500 million points

Well done everyone!

Re: coffee The Linux Team

Hello to group,
nice to see, there's a thread for this team, which I contribute for since some years.
I donate as much as possible (otherwise unused) compution capacity of any linux powered machines of me.
Greetings and happy computing.

Re: coffee The Linux Team

I'm on board as well. I am concentrating almost all of my computing resources on the OPN project for the time being.

Re: coffee The Linux Team

Hi.
My name is Christian.
I just joined BOINC and this team, as I have been promoting Linux for about 15 years.
Hoping to make a little difference for this world.
Cheers.

love struck Re: coffee The Linux Team

Hi I'm Maurizio, I joined 2006 and just discovered our forum :) ahahaha
Yeah, Linux is top, I had to reduce my infrastructure due to move but hope to restart build some servers again soon.
It's interesting in winter, all those CPU/GPU help to heat the flat.

So have a nice period, greetings from Switzerland.

Re: coffee The Linux Team

I'm sorry I hadn't noticed there was a team thread before! I'm Russ, in the Chicago area. I started crunching here after the pandemic began... and then OPNG came along to light up the GPU. biggrin

A Ryzen 7/1700 with a GTX 960 is my main cruncher, with a small fleet of Raspberry Pis (3, 3+, 4, and 2x400) and an off-and-on cast of old PCs to round things out.

I don't crunch on my newer laptop (Ryzen 5/2500U), though, as it throttles enough to be bothersome in interactive use. That's not such a big deal for the old "beater" laptops that only crunch, though the early i7s in them throttle down to the point they can barely digest an ARP unit.
