Communication error on Mac

Hey guys, I just downloaded the beta version for Mac. Before installing it, I force quitted the older version via activity monitor and restarted it. It just got stuck at the communication window. (Communicating with the server, this may take a while)

I've never seen this prompt before.

I proceeded with uninstalling the current version and replaced it with the beta one. Same problem. Tried to reinstall it many times (I uninstalled the profile using the uninstaller each time) and the problem persists. Waited for over 30 minutes and still nothing happened.

Anyone has any idea why this is happening? Btw I just upgraded to OSX Yosemite but this all happened before the upgrade. Haven't tested on the new OS yet. I wonder if there's a way to delete all configuration files left by the program. Don't know where they are. Any help is appreciated!

Beta, what version? Also post the event log from start to where the communication errors are logged.

Re: Communication error on Mac

The mac defaults to installing stuff in:
/Library/Application\ Support/BOINC\ Data

The recommended version of boinc for the mac is currently: http://boinc.berkeley.edu/dl/boinc_7.2.42_macOSX_i686.zip
and has an "Uninstall BOINC.app" in the extras folder.

Re: Communication error on Mac

Hi Distributed Computing and welcome to the forum.

I have ran 7.4.22 on my Mavericks just fine. After yesterday's upgrade to Yosemite I had to reinstall it (permissions issue), so I tried 7.4.23 and the (re)installation went fine and BOINC is running flawlessly. Have you already tried to reinstall it on your new OS X 10.10?

Cheers and good luck

Re: Communication error on Mac

Thanks Tullus. I deleted the data and reinstalled the latest beta. It's all working now :)

Re: Communication error on Mac

I am getting an error with the Mac client as well, but it's a "permanent HTTP error". Running a packet trace with Cocoa Packet Analyzer, it sends a successful request for the project listing, then attempts to query /rpc.php, which it gets the expected 100 Continue response to. It then sends my user name, password hash, and system stats to the server in a giant XML block. For that, it gets a 404 Not Found response.
