picklew,
Have you tried limiting your crunching to just one of your CPU's cores? This seemed to help with my Galaxy S3.

Re: android device results error or invalid

Found that most errors occur, the 193 sigsegv and signal 11, when the battery charging is not keeping up, and the agent is constantly stopping and starting. E.g. if you have set 70 percent, it goes like 68 percent stop, 70 percent resume, 68 percent stop and on and on. This happens most when the device is plugged in, obviously, -and- is being used where the display is the big power consumer. For that the agent has a 'Pause computation when screen is on', which is similar to the pc version's where deselecting 'compute while in use' pauses computing. Try that.

What i do in addition is pause the agent until the battery is full, then allow it to compute or when using an alternate agent, remote activate snooze, which stops computing for 60 minutes. That's usually enough to bring the battery charge up high enough to not see the stop start cycling reoccur. Regrettably the agent has no function automatically stops computing at low battery setting, then pause till high battery setting. No, the developer is of the opinion this is not a problem, no need to implement. End of story.

Whilst, the latest fahv version 7.32 has now giving me 46 sequential non-error results, with the above -got my belly full off- micromanaging. The first 250 have produced 94.2 percent valid based on runtime and 5.8 percent error, the said 193 happening about 1 in 10 errors, the rest signal 11. With fahv version 7.16 had just over 80 percent valid, so saw a substantial improvement, also on the number of copies circulated per result. Before it was over 6.7 copies to get to valid, now it's 2.12 to get to valid. Even recorded 19 on the 250 that were allowed to do it alone. That's a massive improvement.

Not that this helps you much, but think that those who were lost to android due the appalling error rate for wcg may want to now give this another try. No 2-3 week wait to get to valid, just 1 or 2 extra copies before a valid is turned in. And if nothing fixes this, switch to the simap project. 100 percent valid, from the first to the last, at least for my tab.

Btw, the series of 46 started right after google pushed android 4.4.4 onto my tab. The longest valid series before was 29. Oh, and switching down from 4 to 3 threads. That made the task efficiency jump from around 93 percent to 98.5 and greater just like that.

Re: android device results error or invalid

I experienced some issue with the Android app, maybe it can solve your problem too :

With my 24/7 Android crunching server (a Cubieboard 2 with Android 4.2.2, 1Go of RAM shared with GPU), it seems the RAM usage of BOINC client always grows through time. Since I stop the app and run a RAM cleaner app when the free RAM available is too low (the truly free, without the cached RAM added), I have no more problem with corrupted workunits.

I didn't experienced that on my x86 Linux desktop because it has 4Go of RAM and it's shut down every night but it couldn't be a problem for all Boinc client since there is a lot of 24/7 servers crunching around the world. So it must only be relative to the BOINC application for Android, and IMHO it explains why there are so many errors on FAAH Vina's workunits.

Hope it helps !

Re: android device results error or invalid

Did not mention 'nativeboinc' specifically, also in google play store. Been running it since a few months. Much more control, almost as complete as the pc version of boinc. Get 94 percent valid runtime, see the nativeboinc thread, the errors mostly occurring when the battery drainage is too great, always the noted signal 11/sigsegv.

Not aware of memory leaking. The device has been up for a week and the 'smartwho task manager' says that nativeboinc is using 45mb and boinc:remote 27mb. Latter is a process facilitating control from the pc, for which i'm using 'boinctasks'. Since at the end of a task the science app completely unloads, that would not be the leak source.

Re: android device results error or invalid

running nativeboinc instead of Boinc client, will see what happens, definitely more local control
