We have started the maintenance. Currently everything but the website and downloading new work has been disabled. Members will not be able to upload results at this moment.
----------------------------------------We are keeping the website and new work on for a little bit longer. But both will become unavailable within the next hour. Thanks, -Uplinger Note: I should have opened this up as a new topic. [Edit 1 times, last edit by uplinger at Oct 5, 2014 9:00:06 AM] |

We are bringing things back up. I'll give more details soon.

The website and BOINC servers should be fully operational again. Members should be able to utilize all aspects of the website. Work should be available for download and results can be uploaded.
Thank you for your patience during this time. Thanks, -Uplinger |

Just wondered what was this time added in hardware, a power8 with ubuntu
![]() Just kidding, the backup projects kicked in, those with zero project weight. As soon as these jobs finish, wcg will be revisited, or sooner, without manual intervention. The cep2 on ubuntu 14.04 lts one-at-a-time trial continues and went out to simap as it could not upload parts _1 / _3 and report the final confirmation. Off topic, but looking in the transfer screen saw a second big cep2 result file that's 5.4mb, think it was _1, where _4 had gone directly to harvard. Is this standard big size too, and could you maybe relief your load and storage squeeze, by having this uploaded too to harvard directly? |

Thank you and the whole team involved keeping the outage as short as possible. Great job.

An item to think about next time there's a 'scheduled' maintenance, such as highlighted in this post http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewpostinthread?post=470829
Second the proposal, and a script is being run -prior- to the maintenance window start that extends the deadline on those assignments due from 3-6 hours before till 12 hours after, by an x amount of time. The ones that get due during or shortly after the scheduled maintenance period do not cause redundant copies circulated to the first hosts that request work. Those that are completing in this period and are somehow not able to report, before or during, can report without issue. |
