Statistics Tab in BOINC manager causes system to crash?

I have noticed over time that viewing the statistics tab in the BOINC manager (advanced view) has a tendancy to cause my system to crash. The screen will simply freeze, whereafter the system will not respond to any inputs, and the hard disk stops all activity. This does not happen every single time, but it seems to be fairly consistant. The only way to get it unstuck is to perform a hard reboot by holding down the power button.
I am running Linux Mint 13. Hardware is as follows:

CPU: Intel i3-3227U CPU @ 1.90GHz (2 cores, each with 2 logical processors)
RAM: 914.9 MiB (computer has 4 GB instaled, however the OS fails to acknowage all but 914.9 MB of it)

I have not always had this issue. It is probably only within the last few weeks that I connected the system crashing with the statistics tab, but I do know with absolute certainty that this has not always been an issue.

I have not had the issue when running windows 8 (not 8.1, in case that is relavant) on the same computer, or Windows Xp on a different computer.

I was just wondering if anybody has had a similar issue, and if anybody has a possible solution and/or explanation. It is not as if this is a critical issue, as long as I dont look at the statistics when running this OS, it is fine. I am almost more interested in figuring out why, of all things, this is causing a problem than I am about the problem itself.

Re: Statistics Tab in BOINC manager causes system to crash?

I am using boinc version 7.0.27 (x86)

I am using the 32 bit version of my OS, not 64. I originally used it on an older computer that had a CPU without PAE support, and mint 13 was the last distro that did not require PAE support. I am now using the hard drive in a newer computer.
