The question is how many of us android users allow beta wu?
----------------------------------------I just wanted to give feedback because I have heterogenous android devices in hardware, os, with battery and without. What they all have in comen is nativeboinc as boinc client. On all devices I testet all kind of interrupting wu (hard power off, killing client, throttling, ...). So far no issues. ![]() |

@techinicans,
Just in case you are reading, starting to receive _2 and _3 copies. Watching them run, and based on the number of checkpoints completed, they will be needing around 51 hours each. When then looking at the distribution, seeing this: BETA_ FAHV_ x2BBB-AS_ 0879646_ 0219_ 3-- - In Progress 9/14/14 18:31:08 9/16/14 04:07:07 0.00 0.0 / 0.0 BETA_ FAHV_ x2BBB-AS_ 0879646_ 0219_ 2-- - In Progress 9/14/14 16:34:39 9/16/14 02:10:38 0.00 0.0 / 0.0 BETA_ FAHV_ x2BBB-AS_ 0879646_ 0219_ 1-- - No Reply 9/10/14 18:27:44 9/14/14 18:27:44 0.00 0.0 / 0.0 BETA_ FAHV_ x2BBB-AS_ 0879646_ 0219_ 0-- - No Reply 9/10/14 16:33:54 9/14/14 16:33:54 0.00 0.0 / 0.0 Think the 'no reply' have a reason, not enough time, and given these 'repair' copies only get 33.6 hours, they wont make it to prevent more copies being send out. The agent realizes this too and has started running these in high priority. There's of course the nasty chance the 'no reply' still come in, generate quorum, you assimilate the results off and those extra late copies will be told to stick it somewhere, the server signaling they are no longer usable, poof. Seen it happen before. So here's the request; Can you please go in and reset the due dates on your end where both initial copies were no reply after 4 days. It's been done in past during longer outages to prevent unnecessary copy replications, and not waste volunteer time. thx. Ps, yes a revised deadline wont transmit to the agent. That's fine. |

Who was kidding, running 51 hours on android? Half of them already bombed with the dreadful signal 11, now promoted to the number one fail cause. There's a new one too that cannot be found on google, process exited with code 248 (0xf8, -8). Usually at the end of the log there's some additional information, but not here. The repairs are starting to arrive with _5 as suffix, the sixth copy.
Assuming all pending validations will turn valid, the standing device success rate based on run hours is now 83 percent, down from 84 in production. Based on the 21 results counted, 66,666 percent, down from 76.65 percent in production. I noticed this beta doesn't add any run time to my totals even though the tasks are validated. Points are granted just fine.
----------------------------------------CPU time is 0.00 for all my tasks, but elapsed time is e.g. 16.59. It has been a while since I ran these in production, but was granted time back then just fine. An example is BETA_FAHV_x2BBB-AS_0807646_0514_2 (most validated tasks have already been deleted from the result status page) Result Name App Version Number Status Sent Time Time Due / Return Time CPU Time / Elapsed Time (hours) Claimed/ Granted BOINC Credit BETA_ FAHV_ x2BBB-AS_ 0879646_ 0514_ 2-- 732 Valid 14-09-14 09:41:13 14-09-15 02:17:09 0.00 151.2 / 176.8 BETA_ FAHV_ x2BBB-AS_ 0879646_ 0514_ 1-- 732 Error 14-09-13 03:57:07 14-09-14 09:34:55 12.56 77.7 / 77.7 BETA_ FAHV_ x2BBB-AS_ 0879646_ 0514_ 0-- 732 Valid 14-09-13 02:57:31 14-09-14 01:11:37 19.62 202.4 / 176.8 Result Name Device Name Status Sent Time Time Due / Return Time CPU Time / Elapsed Time (hours) Claimed/ Granted BOINC Credit BETA_ FAHV_ x2BBB-AS_ 0879646_ 0514_ 2-- android_1dd81b1 7 Valid 14-09-14 09:41:13 14-09-15 02:17:09 0.00 / 16.59 151.2 / 176.8 ![]() |

Is this something indicative for the technicians? 2 repair tasks received at exactly same second, started in panic due their very short deadline. One finishes, and at the very same time the second blows up with a 193. Not the first time to see a second task crash out within the minute of one finishing and the next starting, on the android. Kitkat 4.4.3 with 1.9gb memory allowed when idle, which it was.

The latest standing, after 28 results. This device according nativeboinc -is- with version 7.16 in rac top 25 android devices for wcg http://nativeboinc.org/site/user_stats#order=rac&project=wcg mostly because the credits for failed tasks off the beta. Hope this does not turn into past tense, as from 84 percent success rate to 53 on results is not the right direction. That said, putting the super long tasks into the beta, longest now running 31 hours, due in 2 and far from finished, has turned the mobile into the locked to desktop, don't touch experience. Can't see that as working for too many.

The only problem I am facing is the way to short deadline on resends. I have runtimes up to 38 hrs and I'm manually pausing wu with normal deadlines to priorize those resends.
----------------------------------------But I miss deadline often but they will not marked as too lade because of quorum/replication. So far none of the >40 wu errored out out were invalid. ![]() |

Yup, just had a result marked as too late when it was returned within the deadline. Some earlier result that had been no reply was returned and marked as valid while mine was processing. Techs: Make sure you run your validation script or turn off the assimilator. People get very testy when they start losing credit towards beta badges due to no fault of their own. ![]() Distributed computing volunteer since September 27, 2000 |

As much as the beta stream suddenly stopped, just noticed that v7.32 started appearing as production tasks. Did we miss the communication somewhere?
