I was examining my tasks on BOINC manager this morning (for the laptop), and I was a little amazed at the time used for FightAids@Home. The longest running has 56:30 hours of run time (66% complete), and the one running high priority has 8:30 hours (only 11% complete) but has a deadline today. hmm had a wu at 67% after 45 hours. and another at 16hrs for 9%. dunno the name of it but saw a y3a_rig and a y3b_rig. No wonder my results have dropped these last 2 days. Chris, if those are FAHV, you may have the same thing Dave does. See the post above. |

I think that sending the results to you as attachments to emails avoided that problem, but I am not sure. So your dad is 89 -- I have 18 more years before I reach that point. You must be getting up in years yourself. I age myself this way nowadays: 1) I'm old enough that I have started paying attention to the Medicare supplement insurance commercials 2) I have seven more years to Medicare  Does that mean you have 8 or 9 years until retirement? Or have you already retired? When I was retired in 2010, I had to figure out all of the Medicare and Social Security benefits then, and I had not paid any attentionto this stuff until then. 8 or 9 years if I'm VERY lucky. I doubt I'll be able to retire before 70. I was 14 months away from having full retirement when IBM tossed me aside back in '09. All I salvaged was a small pension (I was on the old plan, not the cash balance joke). I started drawing it immediately so I could get as much of it as soon as I could. If IBM ever finds a way to get out of paying it and can get their hands on that cash, they'll do it. That's what stinks about all the big IT places - employees are just another expense to be managed just like the one for toilet paper. |

Lucky I escaped when I did. I didn't know you were one of the IBM employees that got kicked out. I was forced to retire after having put in 44 years, but I moved all of my money to an IRA rollover (well over a million) that I used to remodel the house and moved the remainder to a Roth IRA. The taxes for doing that are something else! |
