I suppose he uses usb asics for mining and these are connected via hubs. I've seen some using 30 and more on one computer or a raspberry pi. Probably not using USB miners as there are TH/s (that's terrahash per second) miners available now with 1 company offering a 6TH/s miner for September delivery. Now that is specialized. Based on the other miners on the site, that machine would probably run north of $25,000 US. Of course it is only tuned to do one thing. Cheers

I did a little bit of research into this and from what I've been told by people I know from other forums who are into cryptocurrencies, a lot mining machines really end up being a bit of a rip off.
----------------------------------------The companies that make them seem to do a lot mining on these rigs before they ship them. That's important because the difficulty can increase by as much as 40% per month. So if they run their ASIC's for say 3 months before they actually ship them, by the time you get yours, you're lucky to break even on the cost with electricity. Of course you can make some of the money back by then selling your used equipment, and there does seem to be a healthy market for used equipment, although I honestly can't figure out why give the prices and hash rates I've seen. ![]() ![]() |

@twilyth
----------------------------------------How did you determine that the diff would increase 31% per month? BTW I agree it's a suckers game unless you have very deep pockets.

@twilyth How did you determine that the diff would increase 31% per month? BTW I agree it's a suckers game unless you have very deep pockets. Good question. I'm still puzzled by these things as well. The calculator prefilled it, probably from a recent sampling. The rate at which difficulty increases is highly variable and can be as low as 30% or lower and has high as 40% or higher PER MONTH. And that's not an annualized figure. That actually means 30-40% each and every month. ![]() ![]() |
