This is a really sad story... and very tragic and I agree that it is a devastating blow to AIDs research. My condolences to the families of the crash victims.

At this moment, beside MH17 plane passengers, over 300 Ukrainins died during war with russian terrorists :(

No one believes this was accident. Science community should have some policy on traveling and avoid many top scientists travelling together in one vehicle. According to an AAP article published online on Sat 19 Jul 14 by The Guardian the number of The International AIDS Society (IAS) Melbourne conference delegates killed was 6, not 100.
