7.2.47. Win7, 64 bit. A relative new build with less than 200 validated jobs in four days and now I get the message - don't need. The buffer is empty, I opt in for MCM and FAH (and beta), the buffers is set to 4 days (tried 0.1 as well). Internet seems OK. I didn't make any permanent change to default settings. I tried to remove WGC and add it again four times. ?

I did at least 10 reboots and this time the client went ahead and downloaded work for me. Strange but thank you for making me do the 11th.

While it doesn't help your issue; 4-days is too long of a buffer. If you get any resends, you will never complete them as they are typically due in 3 three days. You might think about setting your buffer to 2-days or under. If it takes more that a day to complete a WU though, then you should set the buffer to be under 2-days.

Nodes which routinely do not return results within the short deadline will not get that work at wcg. From reading past posts, setting a higher cache was thé method to not get 'rush' jobs. Otoh, the agent will prioritize and switch to earliest deadline first should there be a contention create by rush jobs would they nevertheless arrive.

That hasn't been my experience and have seen multiple WU's that the wingman timed-out and two or three resends also showed as timed-out. I have also seen some that were resent but then one of the resends showed up, so there were actually three results when the quorum only required two. This was not a good use of computing power as an additional result was calculated when it could have been used on a different WU and progressed the project. |

That has not been my experience, although with the number of machines that are available, it is not surprising that a machine which has been sent a resend will not complete it in a timely fashion for any number of reasons. I am rarely seeing any units which have any more than one resend, unless there has been some problem with a workunit when I have seen more than 6 (very rare.) Cheers
