Bumped an older thread https://secure.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewthread_thread,36123 , to continue discussion there v.v. the nativeboinc client usability and experience. Like it.

First on nativeboinc went out, middle of the night with a sigill, illegal instruction, the following 3 went to pending validation, which is rather meaningless for the android platform as these still could get the conversion to too late, like this yet another one did for me too, 11 gone to waste again.

We will be testing a new version in our alpha environment this week. Will update this thread once it is determined if a Beta will follow.
Thanks, armstrdj |

I'm having the same issues. Switched to the native client based on what I read here and elsewhere in the forum - the connection works more easily, but I'm still getting errors on my results. Here's the latest:
[14:38:02] Finished task #14 cpu time used 140.495000 [14:38:02] Starting task 15,CPU time is 3831.760000. [14:38:02] ./ZINC07155872.pdbqt size = 31 6 ../../projects/www.worldcommunitygrid.org/fahv.x3AVCaINfbB.pdbqt size = 2842 0 [15:05:48] Finished task #2130698239 cpu time used 419.260000 [15:05:48]:ERROR: Unable to open output file fahv.x3AVCaINfbB_ZINC07164217_405216880_out.pdbqt. 15:05:48 (25721): called boinc_finish </stderr_txt> ]]> Really?? Task #two-million-and-whatnot? This after proceeding in a very orderly way from task#0 to task#15. Anyway there is some problem opening some output file. I looked at my file browser (I'm using Samsung Galaxy 2) - and could not find any boinc or nativeboinc folders. Does anyone know where to look? |

You need to 'root' the device to get to the /data/data area, which is protected, under google auspices
. The nativeboinc client allows installing to the open sd section, that what you can see, but the developers recommend against it. Whilst, having boinc for android also allow installation to the open sd data area is on the wish list, not seeing that happening any time soon. The output file missing is a classic fail for fahv. See this with a signal 11, generally a system overload which is one reason of running only 3 of 4 cores, so the os has an escape clause in case it needs instant cpu/data storage access, and still getting them occasionally. The error number 1 to address is the 195 and number 2 is 193. And #2 130 698 239 is two billion and something. Put some space separatorsd in the number in case of being overwhelmed by big numbers, and it's true, we are in the billions territory ![]() |

Has anyone tried to compile just the boinc client with C4droid-IDE or
CppDroid-IDE ? If I can do this - Debian/Boinc/Kindle non rooted. https://onedrive.live.com/redir?resid=6EAFD91...0&ithint=folder%2cpng I would think I could build the boinc client with C4droid or CppDroid. Anyone? |

Yes, you just have to go here and check "Participate in Beta Testing" for profile you have attached your Android device to. Cheers and ![]() ![]() Crunching@Home since January 13 2000. Small update:
----------------------------------------Since a couple of weeks back on fah with one odroid and a galaxy s2 I didn't have any errors. Some of the wu were marked as "too late" but this seems to be happen when the server normaly would have aborted them but they were in progress on my device. A closer look to the wu reveals that all others except me returned the wu with error state. As far as I have seen (didn't check all resends) all with error 195. So I wonder why others have this problem and me not. Might be the reason that my android devices are configured for boinc only? No pausing of wu because of temperature, low battery or user interaction that causes cpu load and thus pausing boinc? I mean my android devices are heterogen: Different hardware and different android versions. The question is why my devices complete every wu successfull (ok I had one invalid so far) while many others don't? ![]() |
