After every thing is compiled and reviewed who gets access to the data? I personally dont like wasting my pc power on projects that keep all there data closed and sell to the highest bidder. I mean im wasting the electricity to do this work. Also the faq is a lie that it does not cost nothing but spare cycles that are doing nothing.. It cost me electricity to work my cpu more than if it was just idled. Just want every one to have access to the data that is generated from the results instead of being sold to a company that will make the drugs that will cost them cents on the dollar then mark the pills up to several thousand dollars a month to get. If data sold to highest bidder i can save money on energy bill.

I mean im wasting the electricity to do this work...i can save money on energy bill. Not trying to be mean here but you've been a member for 3 years and have one bronze badge; how much electricity have you wasted? Is you rig running on double A's? If you believe that the FAQ is a lie then maybe you should direct your resources elsewhere... Give me a break! ![]() |

Like Scribe said, the data is in the public domain.
You can also set the settings so that it only computes a small amount, like 30% or so. |

After every thing is compiled and reviewed who gets access to the data? Please check Branjo's post above for the link that indicates what happens to the data I personally dont like wasting my pc power on projects that keep all there data closed and sell to the highest bidder. Just like everybody else here at WCG I mean im wasting the electricity to do this work. See, here's where we start to get into trouble. Why do you think you are "wasting" your electricity? Perhaps you meant to say "spending". if you really meant "wasting" then it appears that you don't understand the purpose of the WCG. If you think you're "wasting" you're electricity, why participate? Also the faq is a lie that it does not cost nothing but spare cycles that are doing nothing.. It cost me electricity to work my cpu more than if it was just idled. curious... I looked in the faq and found the following link which contains plenty information about electricity costs: http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewpostinthread?post=13159 Just want every one to have access to the data that is generated from the results instead of being sold to a company that will make the drugs that will cost them cents on the dollar then mark the pills up to several thousand dollars a month to get. Everybody that crunches here at WCG has that exact same thought If data sold to highest bidder i can save money on energy bill. No offense and I'm not trying to be rude, but from your post, maybe you should reconsider your participation. You do not sound like you are convinced of purpose/objective of WCG. CJSL Crunching for a better world ... |

@cjslman: Well spoken; I freely admit that your reply is much more detailed and comprehensive than my own, as well as more diplomatic. Again, well done!

Last word from the status page;
http://fightaidsathome.scripps.edu/status_old/status_page5_20140320.html Scroll to the bottom; "Results of these FightAIDS@Home experiments are available to the public as raw, unprocessed AutoDock dlg files upon request. E-mail Dr. Daniel N. Santiago = dsantiag ]~[ scripps . edu (use the @ symbol to replace the ]~[ and remove the spaces) for further information. Please include the phrase "FAAH data" in the subject line of your e-mail. Since the amount of data is on the order of many terabytes, you will need to provide suitable media (such as external hard drives) for receiving a copy of these results. " |
