Just saw this on my RSS feed, referring to the URL http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/about_us/viewNewsArticle.do?articleId=360 :
World Community Grid will be performing standard system maintenance this week starting Wednesday, May 21, 2014 at 14:00 UTC. The window for this maintenance work is 8 hours, although we anticipate the actual outage time will be less. During this time, various parts of the website will be unavailable as we perform these updates. In addition, volunteer devices may not be able to fetch new research tasks or return completed work for a brief period of time during this outage. No action is required by the members as the BOINC/World Community Grid software application will automatically reconnect to our servers once the outage is over. Now, if we can just the forum RSS feeds to work ... |

Had to change the dns server and boot the router, as usual, to get anything back from wcg when something is on, best french censored, specifically the `maintenance in progress´ throwback page, which reads
Maintenance World Community Grid is performing site maintenance. Please check back later. Who We Are World Community Grid's mission is to create the largest public computing grid benefiting humanity. Our work is built on the belief that technological innovation combined with visionary scientific research and large-scale volunteerism can change our world for the better. Our success depends on individuals - like you - collectively contributing their unused computer time to this not-for-profit endeavor. Exciting work is now under way on projects that hold tremendous potential to benefit humanity. Why Am I Seeing This Page? World Community Grid is down at this time because we are in performing some web site maintenance. This sort of maintenance does not happen often, and is announced in the forums before it occurs. Please check our Facebook page or Twitter feed for updates. The twitter and facebook pages refer to the maintenance news via an ow.ly link, which of course did not work since wcg was down. The maintenance news flash on t&f were repeated 3 times, 3 days in a row, on 19th, 20th, 21st, if that´s called update, but no update on the maintenance. As for the bolded highlight, not all at wcg sing from the same hymnbook.  |
