RT, thanks for the feedback. As for Best Buy, I have had sufficient experience with them to be very careful about anything I buy from them so your comment about Best Buy NOT is well taken. Do you have any comments about the reviews I have read? This one said sold and shipped by buy.com... but in going through the review it did state specifically Best Buy. A number of different sellers were listed for what looks to be the same computer. I am going to investigate further.
----------------------------------------Added with edit: I went back to the computers listed by Best Buy, and only one was for BB... The Buy.com (when I entered it for the URL) was for Rakuten.com... There was also another seller - Beach Camera. I have not looked at the reviews you spoke of. What I tend to do is just look at machines that have the specs I want. Those that you listed seemed to me to be a bit of an overkill for WCG. All you really need for WCG is a big processor a decent about of memory 8-12 gig and a decent hard drive. The rest is for gaming I suppose. I don't use laptops for WCG due to the cooling problems inherent with WCG. I build desktops from scratch with plenty of cooling capacity. That way, they do not throttle down due to excessive heat and the fans do not need to run at full speed or worse yet cycle between speeds constantly (causing distraction at a minimum). So my comments on laptops for WCG are, at best, under-informed. I just have seen enough of Best Buy to count my fingers to make sure they are all there after shaking hands with their sales people. |

Once in a great while BB has what you want at a good price... but you're more likely to see a good deal on a TV or stereo than a computer. If you ignore the sales people and keep a sharp eye on the register during checkout, you can come away unscathed.  The days of them actually being "Best Buy", are long gone.- D |
