Don't know if any of you noticed the new beta that went out yesterday. Apparently, it's for a new project. It seems that it will require machines that have the SSE2 instruction set. That means it won't run on really old machines (I think like Pentiums). The first beta looks to be going well so this may go production a bit quickly. As for what it's about, the only clue is the UGM in the WU names/files. That could be anything from German Measles to Malaria to genetic markers/mutations. Whatever it is, it's another active project coming and soon!

That means it won't run on really old machines <snip> I didn't see any beta WUs. Oh well. SSE2 was introduced as part of the Pentium 4 chips (about 2001 or 2002). AMD provided support a little later. Atom processors probably have support, but I don't know for sure. Should be easy enough to find on Intel's web site. Odds are if your processor is less than 10 years old, it has SSE2. - D |

Odds are if your processor is less than 10 years old, it has SSE2. - D I think these betas are Clean Energy II betas. I have processed several and they are very quick running. There does not seem to be many of them. |
