Re: BOINC is not running.

I already downloaded and installed BOINC version 7.2.47 from BOINC (Recommended) link and it is OK now.
My second device is a HP laptop with installed Vista as OS and PC Tools as antivirus.
I don't know why this device and version BOINC 6.10.58 only run Mapping Cancer Markers project, just if I selected 3 projekts when I installed WCG program.
Can I download and install the same BOINC 7.2. 47 version?
Also I'm going to use my Assus tablete as the third device with Android 4.0 as operating system installed,
Can I download and install WCG program with the same BOINC version 7,2.47?
Is it any advantaje here?
I hearded that tablets with android OS get 20 points a day only.

Hi, for the laptop you can download the 7.2.47 version. As for the tablet, go to the google play store and install BOINC. Also, that PC tools antivirus will cease to update on December 4, 2014 so you should get a new antivirus before that date.

Regarding the workunits, have you assigned the profile to that device? Currently, only Mapping Cancer Markers, Fight AIDS At Home and Clean Energy Project - Phase 2 have work.

Re: BOINC is not running.

Hi Pettud,

Be careful with Windows XP, within a few weeks Microsoft will stop upgrading it. This means, it will be more sensitive to viruses.

2 days actually. Just get a good AV, a Firewall, use any browser other than IE and use common sense and people will be fine.

Are you kidding us? IE is the most secure browser on the market for Windows. Even older versions (e.g. the one for XP) is better solution than FireChicken (aka FireFox) - this one can be used only by real BFU's d oh

Opera is out of common sense, Chrome is somehow OK, but full of security/privacy holes, Safari is (unfortunately) not available for Windows (AFAIK) rolling eyes .

So my recommendation is to stick with IE and use Chrome as a secondary one for pages that can not be viewed in IE-for-XP.

Cheers peace

IE, the safest browser? How can you say that? The last version of IE for XP is 8, I think, and it is slow and unsecure. The best IE, from what I know, is IE11 which isn't available for XP. Chrome, Opera, Firefox, Safari are all much safer than IE, altough Firefox seems to have a few holes too. Chrome does have those privacy issues though and Opera is just a Chrome clone nowadays.

Falconet, even IE8 for XP is more secure and more reliable than any FireChicken, which, to be honest, hasn't any hole in it - the whole FireFox is one big hole opening your computer for any and all viruses, hackers and similar threats. If you are using it with Windows. If you are using it with Mac OS X on MacBook, it will just burn out your battery, fans, disc(s) and lap. If you are using it with Mac OS X on desktop Macs, it will just burn out fans, disc(s) and nerves.

Since I started using internet back in 1996, I have never experienced worse malware than FireChicken. Even Norton Antivirus and McAffee are not that bad. sick

Opera? Laughable piece of so-called software w/o a future. clown

Chrome? As I wrote, not that bad browser with lot of privacy holes (what can you expect from Google tool?) devilish

Safari? The best browser I have ever used. Need to be combined with Mac OS X (what is more-or-less the answer to all internet threats). love struck

Anyway, whatever you chose, it is up to you. Just don't spread common lies around you. You are very respectable member of this community, so don't degrade yourself with such non-senses wink

Cheers peace

Branjo,

How can you say that IE8, a browser that is going to stop being supported, if it hasn't already, is safer than Firefox? Every time I used IE (back when I was 12 or so), IE would get "add-ons" and change homepages and install activex's which I had no idea why. Avast would go crazy whenever I opened IE. Then I used Firefox for a while and had no problems. Then I switched to Opera which I used till mid-2013 when they decided to make a chrome clone which even now doesn't have a Linux version. Now I use Maxthon, a chrome based browser with some more features. I have to say, you are the first person, (other than the corporate entity "person" Microsoft) who says that IE is great). Lately I have only read magazines and security companies urging people who are still using Windows XP to stop using Internet explorer and switch to Chrome or Firefox and a quick web search will shows tonnes of information stating that IE is unsafe and "15 reasons not to use Internet Explorer" and such.

I stand by my recommendation to stay away from Internet Explorer. Of course, if IE11 was available for Windows XP I probably wouldn't bother switching unless I needed to, since it seemed a bit faster than previous versions when I briefly used it and is safer than previous versions.
