I have a couple of workunits that were marked as "Too late" and I wonder why.
----------------------------------------For example: FAHV_x3NF6_A_IN_LEDGFb_rig_0204976_0369 was initially created at 03/16/2014 16:50:36. This wu was sent to my device at 18.03.14 05:14:33 and the result was sent at 18.03.14 09:14:48. I can see that other recipients either aborted this wu or returned it with error. Maybe this was the cause. Another example: Created: 03/15/2014 21:36:04 Name: FAHV_x3NF6_A_IN_LEDGFa_rig_0204764_0096 FAHV_ x3NF6_ A_ IN_ LEDGFa_ rig_ 0204764_ 0096_ 3-- 706 Too Late 17.03.14 00:39:04 17.03.14 23:32:09 7.11 Any ideas? Bug or feature ?![]() |

Hello Eric_Kaiser,
From the Department of Confusing Messages: The WCG staff must have decided to withdraw some batches of work units. They were probably all giving Errors. The code they had the scheduler send to anybody who had already downloaded some of these units labelled the units "Too Late". At least, that is what I am guessing. Lawrence |

I've seen a few of my wu withdrawn. They were marked as server aborted before processing started on one of my android devices.
----------------------------------------Perhaps if one of those wu is in crunching progress they let go and mark them as too late. ![]() |

Sorry for the delayed response, but there are a few things that go into this. (note all numbers are hypothetical and may or may not be used on actual projects)
So, there are limits set for each work unit on the backend of BOINC. Here are a few: 1. Max number of results (example 9) 2. Max number of error results ( example 5) 3. Max number of success results (example 5) Say you download a work unit that already has 4 error work units but requires a quorum of 2. This means that you and another member have a work unit in progress when you download it. This at a minimum would mean 6 total results have been sent for the work unit. Then your wingman with an active result returns it in error. This would cause the server to try and abort all remaining results in progress. If your device had started it before the server abort message was set, then it'll allow your device to complete it. Also, number of max successes means that the results are not validating against each other. For example all 5 copies have different results. Hope this helps, -Uplinger |

Thank you very much for clarification - my guess was not completely wrong.
----------------------------------------Does the project still benefit from those wu when they get marked as to late? ![]() |

Today I returned one 7.06 WU which was originally placed to the PVer prison and now it is moved to "Too late" one, but w/o granted credits for it.
----------------------------------------So, on the top of the new design (which I like very much ), we got another new feature - no points for unvalidated tasks even if it takes one day for our computers to shrub them...Well, let see how 7.16's will pan out Cheers ![]() ![]() Crunching@Home since January 13 2000.
