I'm pretty sure no one at RL would try to hack anyone but there are definitely people out there who would try to hack individual accounts to try to get some quick XRPs.

It's possible that what happened is that they associated your BOINC/WCG account with Ripple and then set up a wallet to receive the XRPs thinking that you wouldn't notice.

I'm not a hacker but personally, I would have changed the password on your account to prevent you from changing the team affiliation. Since they didn't do that the first time, assuming you wouldn't notice, I would change your password now while you still have access to the account.

I'd also try to use a complex password that can't be brute forced. It might be a good idea for WCG to look into this and send an email to everyone alerting them to the possibility of hacking and the importance of choosing strong passwords.

If that's what happened, I can definitely see this becoming more common.

This is the sort of shenanigans that come about when people start doing things for money that used to be done by volunteers. There's been low-lifes hacking crnuching accounts for some time but it was just for the petty ego boost, now that there's the possibility of money involved thanks to Ripple Labs this will happen more and more often.

Anything that disturbs user confidence in the security and integrity of WCG is worrying. If the instances of involuntary team change noted above are verified by WCG then it is crucial that WCG tell the community that the matter is being investigated. Maybe a temporary block on changing teams whilst this is resolved? Silence from WCG on this matter is not acceptable.
