Yes, I installed them all. My friend is using, with her user name, this computer, because it is hers. I read where you can have several user names on one computer, and you are able to have folders, which will automatically start that user's software, as soon as the log in is complete. Am I wrong?

Yes, they are all installed. But you can have 2 user names, correct? It says you may have several user names in the Help section. However, since this computer has Windows 8, should I uninstall the 6.10.58 and one of the 7.2.39 or 7.2.64 versions? They are all installed on her computer and her Boinc is running correctly.

The computer can normally only run one boinc, if you want to run boinc you will have to buy a computer, sorry

I would think that your friend's Boinc can run even if you're using it, but I'm not sure why it isn't

Syrina Garcia,
----------------------------------------Both user accounts on the PC can run BOINC. BOINC should automatically start when you login with either account so don't worry about that. ![]() - AMD Ryzen 5 1600AF 6C/12T 3.2 GHz - 85W - AMD Ryzen 5 2500U 4C/8T 2.0 GHz - 28W - AMD Ryzen 7 7730U 8C/16T 3.0 GHz [Edit 1 times, last edit by Falconet at Feb 19, 2014 7:41:45 PM] |

Ok, thanks. I knew I had read where I could have several users on one computer, but he confused me.
Anyway, it may be running because it has 0.00 in my staats; it just isn't showing anything. I restarted, went back to Advanced, where I found the Event Log, but it has 2013, not 2014, and when I click 'copy all', it just lets me have a small rectangular box, which I can move. Is that what it is supposed to do? I don't guess there is any way you could get on this computer to fix it for me, is there, like logmein.com or whatever? That would be great! I asked if I should uninstall the 6.10.58 and one of the 7.2.39 or 7.2.64. since the computer OS is Windows 8, but I haven't received a reply. It just seems that if Maddy56 is working properly on the very same computer, and Syrina isn't, that just doesn't make sense to me. I know I am not qualified to say that, but it just seems to be common sense. Appreciate your trying to help me. I'm just not doing very well. |

Hi Syrina, I'm assuming that 'Maddy56' is your friends login name on the computer, and that you're using something different (i.e., your own name). If that's the case, then as far as I understand it, whenever 'Maddy56' logs in, she'll use the BOINC software she's installed, and whatever was the last BOINC version you installed, will be the one that it's using when you log in (again, as far as I know, each install simply overwrites the software). You should be able to identify the BOINC version you're running, by, when in the BOINC Advanced view screen, selecting the 'Help' pull down menu and clicking on 'About BOINC Manager'. From there, it should list the version you're using.
----------------------------------------In relation to attempting to copy all the Error Log, when you clicked on the 'Copy all messages' button, did you try to paste the messages into a new (blank) Notepad document? If so, what happened? ![]() |

You are correct in your assumption. Maddy56 is the owner of this computer; I am an additional user. I am going to the BOINC Advanced view screen, if I can find it, to look for the version or versions we each are in. Appreciate it.
----------------------------------------We are both in the same versions, which are 7.2.39(x86) and widgets version 2.8.10 Finally, I am able to answer that!!! Now, for the rest. Please direct me step by step from beginning (here) to end (there) on exactly how I get to the Event Log, because I do NOT believe I am on the correct Event Log. It will NOT let me copy anything. Thanks, Syrina [Edit 1 times, last edit by Former Member at Feb 19, 2014 10:34:33 PM] |

Okay, excellent Syrina, we're making progress
----------------------------------------![]() As I'm not actually running version 7.2.39 (I'm still on the WCG recommended version of 6.10.58 - as I'm running Windows 7), I'm hoping that others who are on that version, can chip in and help me out if I'm saying anything wrong here... What I am wondering though, is that the BOINC version which you're pulling up, is the one Maddy56 has installed - and thus, the reason why you may be having challenges in copying the Event Log, i.e., it's not allowing you to access her data. We can check this, by clicking on the Projects Tab, and under the Account column, should be listed your own username. If it's listing Maddy's, then that could explain as to why you're not having any joy with the copying of the Event Log. ![]() |
