Well, I give up. I don't guess I should be in here in the first place. I went to help, got to the Event Log, but it looks like a template with lines of old stuff, went to 'copy all', clicked it, came back to this exact place, right clicked 'paste' and it pasted what I had saved the time before this. Therefore, I know it didn't work.
I just don't know what else to do. |

try again, I just tried the COPY ALL button and it did work for me, you can also just highlight the first line and then SHIFT- Down- Arrow until you highlighted the first 50 lines, then right-click COPY, then click here where you write your post, then right click and Paste

Syrina, please don't give up so quickly, we're all here willing to help you out (unfortunately, some members have been here so long that they've forgotten as to how intimidating getting going on WCG can seem. Also, some members aren't as familiar with working with people who don't match up to their computer skills, and thus, they can come across as being slightly impatient).
----------------------------------------If you've found the "Event Log" screen, then you're running one of the 7.2.39 or 7.2.64 versions of BOINC (version 6.10.58's equivalent is called the "Messages" tab). When you pressed the "Copy all messages" button, that, in theory, should have copied all the messages in that screen to your clipboard. You should be able to see this, by then opening the Notepad application and then pasting it in there (Edit, Paste). Hopefully, that screen will then match what you're seeing in your Event Log. If it is, then come back to this thread and paste again what you see there in here - again, it should be the same. Hopefully then, we'll have enough information to go on so as to help you resolve your challenges. ![]() |

----------------------------------------Two more tthings to try: In BOINC Manager Select Help from the top menu then About that will display what version of BOINC you are using. Please share with us. It maybe that the information we are trying to get you to provide from the Event log has diappeared (aged off) so it would be helpful if you rebooted your computer before attempting to Copy All as described above. What we are expecting to see will look something like this example: Example only 13/02/2014 08:38:33 | | cc_config.xml not found - using defaults 13/02/2014 08:38:33 | | Starting BOINC client version 7.2.39 for windows_intelx86 13/02/2014 08:38:33 | | log flags: file_xfer, sched_ops, task 13/02/2014 08:38:33 | | Libraries: libcurl/7.25.0 OpenSSL/1.0.1 zlib/1.2.6 13/02/2014 08:38:33 | | Running as a daemon 13/02/2014 08:38:33 | | Data directory: C:\ProgramData\BOINC 13/02/2014 08:38:33 | | Running under account boinc_master 13/02/2014 08:38:33 | | No usable GPUs found 13/02/2014 08:38:33 | | Host name: Spare-401 13/02/2014 08:38:33 | | Processor: 2 GenuineIntel Intel(R) Pentium(R) CPU G860 @ 3.00GHz [Family 6 Model 42 Stepping 7] 13/02/2014 08:38:33 | | Processor features: fpu vme de pse tsc msr pae mce cx8 apic sep mtrr pge mca cmov pat pse36 clflush dts acpi mmx fxsr sse sse2 ss htt tm pni ssse3 cx16 sse4_1 sse4_2 popcnt nx lm vmx tm2 pbe 13/02/2014 08:38:33 | | OS: Microsoft Windows 7: Professional x86 Edition, Service Pack 1, (06.01.7601.00) |

Thank you guys for being so sweet to respond as you did. I was beginning to really feel badly because I cannot do what you are saying.
----------------------------------------I will not give up, but I do need to ask you if I am allowed to have two different users on this one computer? Because this is a friend's computer and she has her log in name on it but allowed me to run one as well. Please give me specific instructions, from the beginning to end, just how I get to 'Event Log' if you will. I found one, don't remember where now, but it looked like a template. Since you have now given me better instructions, I believe I can do it. However, I do need the steps to find the log again, please...... I appreciate your help so very much. I forgot to give you the software, which I had done in previous post, but I don't see it anymore, so here they are again.
7.2.39 7.2.64 6.10.58 Also, if 2 users are on this computer, do I need to download the 'Download' for me, on the top of the menu to the extreme right of the log in? |

you don't see it anymore because it's on page 1, there is a place at the top of the forum and the bottom to change pages.
Apparently someone said that the version on the top of the menu at the extreme upper right hand corner will not work with Windows 8. Did you uninstall the previous versions before downloading another version? |
