I joined WCG 2 days ago (16th), I downloaded the Windows 8 software on this computer, and downloaded the software on the top of the site opposite log in, but my contributions are still 0. I entered my profile and project information. Is there something else I need to do? I would appreciate your help. Thanks.

So far you have not returned any results which will then need to be validated before your statistics update.
----------------------------------------Please copy + paste the first 50 lines from your Event log (BOINC Manager advanced view CTRL+Shift+E) so we can advise whether your setup appears correct. |

I'm sorry. I am new and do not know where to find the Event Log, (Boinc Manager advanced view CTRL+Shift+E). I do know how to CTRL+Shift+E but do not know where to do that. Do I go to Staats? Or where? Thanks

The WCG recommended Boinc version 6.10.58 will not work with Windows 8. You will need at least 7.0.64 which you can get here. Good luck. Hello Syrina Garcia,
Welcome to the World Community Grid. I expect that everything is working well. Your statistics will start showing points awarded after the server validates the results you have returned. To see what is going on, you have 2 choices. If you double-click on the BOINC icon, you will bring up the BOINC Manager. It will probably show you the simple view. If you click on the bottom right command (Advanced View), it will switch to the complicated view with all the information. Most people on this forum have probably forgotten what the Simple View looks like. I normally run in Advanced - Tasks, which shows me what I am currently doing in BOINC. The Messages log has been renamed the Event log in BOINC version 7, but WCG is still downloading BOINC 6.10.58 because it works, unless you are running Windows 8. The other way to see what is going on is to use your web browser on the WCG site. Click on My Contribution - Results Status to look at the Results Status page. Try clicking on individual items for more information. This lets you see what the server knows about what your computer is doing or has recently done. Eventually information ages off your Results Status page. Also try clicking on Help in the top right of the forum in your browser. There is a lot of information . For more detailed posts, look at the Start Here forum on your browser, although it can get confusingly detailed. Have a good time! Lawrence |

Thanks for your quick responses. As I mentioned in my first post, I had already downloaded the Boinc Windows 8 software, but just in case, I just downloaded it again. Still nothing. I will be happy to give you a copy of the 50 lines on the Event Log, if you will advise me how to do it. Thanks

As stated earlier, if you are running Windows 8 then the Version of Boinc you downloaded from the Download option at top right of this screen will NOT work. Download a later version from the main Berkley site

I am sorry you are getting impatient with me but I am not computer literate like you are. As I mentioned in my very first post, I downloaded Boinc 7.2.39 as well as 7.2.64 and 6.10.58.
I simply do not understand how to complete the task on the Event Log. I found the Advanced and the Event Log, but it wouldn't allow me to copy. It just highlighted a few things. Also, it was 2012 information so I am lost. Please help and be a little more patient. Thank you so much. |

If yes, select that and then come back to the forums and open a new post and with your mouse, right click and select "paste" and the messages from your event log will be pasted in the post. Thanks.
