I believe that World Community Grid worked with the University of Kentucky as discussed at the end of the this thread: http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewthread?thread=2322 to install the agent on around 1000 computers. I'd say they got it to work.

And they only have a 529 running so far - just wait until they get a full 1000....

Re: Wow.... who are the new kids on the block?

As Captian of the "New Kids on the Block" let me say, "hear we come" biggrin

I was actually going to wait a little longer before I made ourselves known, but you all have found us out.

We are indeed the ones trying to get it installed on around 1000 machines. It took us an extremely long time to get over some hurdles. We push the stuff out via Ghost, but our biggest issues was working around Deep Freeze and getting the service to work correctly. We only have the agent on about half of our machines right now, so watch out when we get going full steam!

If there are any other Universities out there that need to know how they can deploy the agent and are using Ghost and Deep Freeze (and all universities should use Deep Freeze!) let us know and I'm sure all of us that worked on getting it to work can write up something.

Rudi, your order is now ready....

Graham, now if we had them all, we would be up to 17,000. However, you have given me an idea. I can post our stuff to the Staff List Serve - oh and the alumni could come in and help too. biggrin

UKSCS --

Well, welcome to the WCG! It is nice to see so many new processors joining into the effort. Perhaps your success in pushing the software out to your systems may provide the motivation for more universities to join in the efforts here. If you do a write-up on how you got Ghost and DeepFreeze working (I myself am not familiar with either) and publish it on a web site, I am sure that one of the Community Admins or the WCG Techs would be more than happy to post a pointer to it in the FAQs here.

Re: Wow.... who are the new kids on the block?

Hello UKSCS,

Congratulations on figuring out how to crunch with Deep Freeze! applause I know that I would like to hear about that. With a new school year starting, there may be a number of people looking at the WCG site from schools using Deep Freeze. If you can find some time to write up your experience, I think that it would prove very helpful.
