Re: Android Support Update

We are testing a fix for the cpu time issue in alpha currently. So far things look good and barring any other issues I would expect a beta test very soon.

Thanks,
armstrdj

Re: Android Support Update

Thanks armstrdj.
There was a couple of very large Android Vinas out in the field, just reported a 57 cpu hours Android Vina. Perhaps keep that in mind when selecting the Betas.

Re: Android Support Update

I guess this thread is better than opening a new one.

The new WUs are not yet published outside of beta, is that right? Because for at least a week all results on my android device have had errors. (And I just now realized it :-/)

Re: Android Support Update

At this time WCG on Android is not worth anybodies time. Even disabling 3 out of 4 cores and just run 1 at the time gives a high failure rate here. Opposed, SIMAP on 4 cores concurrent does great with a 100% valid score. The battery stays at 27C at full CPU time, which is pretty cool to me. It's the only other med related Android project I know.

Re: Android Support Update

Hello Lavaflow are you sure that all 4 cores are running full speed?

Re: Android Support Update

Speed according cpu-z alternates for the 4 cores between 1132 and 1512 mhz (max). The battery is the dangerous part, infamous in many news items. The display appears to be working as a heat conduit as one side feels pretty warm, well above 40C. Explicitly only computing when on charger. My theory is, if it is one, long as the battery is full, the juice flows pretty straight to cpu and rest without loading the battery any much. And no, per that other thread, did not notice any particularly large differential between elapsed and cpu time. The 16 beta, still in pending but quorum complete, show amenable differences. Nothing exiting, unless you think the small difference is hope inducing exiting.

Which reminds me, on the result status page you can make out which android work relates to. On the device manager just see android.

P.S. the tablet has one of these foldable book stands for maximum air exposure, where cpuz in the battery section now shows 26.4C. Health: Good

Re: Android Support Update

BTW, if the test was only for 200x2 work units, don't understand how one single device could net 16, but they ran on 4 cores concurrent. Some expectation, whilst the technicians may be afraid to switch on the validator to find out that the largest percent immediately goes into pending verification. Highest copy count was 6 with 4 failing. Apparently errors do cause for extra copies to be sent without the need of a validator.
