I just installed BOINC to my new computer (64-bit Windows 7) last night and let it run through the night. This morning I checked the log and I'm seeing entries that Windows is suspending operations every 30 minutes for no apparent reason. Uploads and downloads seem to be taking place normally and computation resumes after a few seconds. I wasn't seeing this on my old computer (32-bit Windows Vista) at least not the last time I looked at the logs (a few months ago).
----------------------------------------I'll copy a sample of the log below. The way a friend set up my Windows profile, it logs me out after a time of inactivity (unknown how long - 30 minutes maybe??), so that's the only thing I can think of that might be behind this. My profile on my old computer was not set to be logged out after a period of inactivity. Can anyone tell me why it's doing this? Is it because of the way my profile is set up? Thanks. ======================== 1/20/2014 6:06:32 AM | World Community Grid | Computation for task MCM1_0001550_0017_0 finished 1/20/2014 6:06:32 AM | World Community Grid | Starting task FAHV_x4i2qRTaj_0722550_0056_1 using fahv version 706 in slot 0 1/20/2014 6:06:34 AM | World Community Grid | Started upload of MCM1_0001550_0017_0_0 1/20/2014 6:06:41 AM | World Community Grid | Finished upload of MCM1_0001550_0017_0_0 1/20/2014 6:17:18 AM | | Windows is suspending operations 1/20/2014 6:17:18 AM | | Suspending computation - requested by operating system 1/20/2014 6:17:18 AM | | Suspending network activity - requested by operating system 1/20/2014 6:17:27 AM | | Resuming after OS suspension 1/20/2014 6:17:42 AM | | Resuming computation 1/20/2014 6:17:42 AM | | Resuming network activity 1/20/2014 6:17:43 AM | | Windows is resuming operations 1/20/2014 6:49:18 AM | | Windows is suspending operations 1/20/2014 6:49:18 AM | | Suspending computation - requested by operating system 1/20/2014 6:49:18 AM | | Suspending network activity - requested by operating system 1/20/2014 6:49:31 AM | | Resuming after OS suspension 1/20/2014 6:49:45 AM | | Resuming computation 1/20/2014 6:49:45 AM | | Resuming network activity 1/20/2014 6:50:00 AM | | Windows is resuming operations ======================= [Edit 1 times, last edit by starhuggrrr at Jan 20, 2014 6:38:42 PM] |

starhuggrrr, Go to Control Panel -> Power options and change the option "Put the computer to sleep:" to "Never".

Thank you! I think that probably did it. It was set to sleep every 30 minutes. If I still see it happening, I'll report back, but for now this can be marked as resolved. Thanks! :-)
