Hello, for some time now i have a small problem with BOINC manager. Couldn't find anything with search, so here it goes:
----------------------------------------For some reason it reacts to usage of clipboard. Basically sometimes when i hit Ctrl-C, BOINC menu pops up at location of mouse cursor. Its same menu you get when right-clicking icon in tray. Its quite annoying because i lose focus to application i am working with at the moment and have to grab a mouse, open manager and minimize it with Esc. Esc alone does not work. Clicking elsewhere does not work too - menu just stays up. Its most noticeable when i work in MS Office, but also happened to me in web browser (Opera) and when moving files with mouse from total commander to email client. At first i thought its some keyboard shortcut, but that does not seem to be the case - because it also happens with mouse only. Also i see same behavior at my home computer (Win7), old desktop at work (Win XP) and work laptop (Win XP). So its probably not related to computers but rather client itself. I am running version 6.10.58 at all of them. Anyone encountered this behavior? What is the cause? thanks for any help Edit: forgot to add that i didnt observe any consistency. Sometimes it happens 10 times a day. Sometimes not at all. [Edit 1 times, last edit by GiskardCZ at Jan 12, 2014 10:48:36 AM] |

6.10.58 is a very old build, lots of us, (not WCG itself) have moved on to version 7 which fixes a heck of a lot of bugs......I use 7.2.28 without any problems

hmmm 6.10.58 is still recommended version on world community grid website.
Guess i could try version 7 on one computer and see if it helps. |

Work is underway on a new WCG "Approved" version - but at a low priority. Sometime in 2014 SekeRob Community Advisor <<but it takes time to get it [IBM enterprise approved] and then have it put in by the hosting center staff, then tested etc etc.>> |

For what it is worth, I am on the same client version and use office heavily. I have not had the same error or was able to reproduce the issue. You can also change what key you are using for shortcuts. I typically use "alt".

Likewise, I'm also running 6.10.58 and have not experienced this problem so I don't believe that it is a BOINC specific version issue.
----------------------------------------At work, a customer had an odd problem with some windows/programs behaving strangely, turned out that one of the keys had got stuck on the keyboard. The key had returned to its usual position but underneath it was stuck down so Windows thought Ctrl or Alt or Shift was constantly being pressed. Unlikely that this the issue here but can't think what else it could be. |
