power on, all fans zoom, some small HDD access then nothing... I had a brand new Gateway that was DOA just like that last March. Since it was new, I didn't muck about with it, just returned it. Did it POST? Any beep tones at all? If not, could be the mobo's fried. If there were beeps of any sort, then it could be just the graphics card. If you've got a known good one about, try swapping it out before hauling in to the shop. |

Did it POST? no screen is shown, however, I know GFX worked before the HSFBase installation Any beep tones at all? nope, could well be the motherboard - just as long as it isn't the processor If you've got a known good one about, try swapping it out before hauling in to the shop. motherboard doesn't support AGP 8x/4x, no PCI GFX card available shop suggested over the phone that if i had spare time to try reseating the CPU and HSFBase, but I thought i'd leave it for them to do - seeing as its all covered under purchase agreements will take it in this morning, hopefully get it back sometime next week forums been quiet for the last few days [Edit 1 times, last edit by Former Member at Aug 26, 2005 9:13:42 AM] |

I like warranties, But don't like the seemingly slow repair time I get from the shops when using one. I'm planning an update for one of my systems early next month and am just hoping that I don't let the smoke out of something while doing it.
