Problem adding a device RESOLVED

Looked all over with Search for how to add a device to my profile/account/whatever and can't find it. I dl v. 7.2.33 on a forum suggestion because I have Mavericks OS X 10.9.1/MacBook Air. Got it installed and it appears on my dock, but all I get is a blue window saying "You don't have any projects. Please add a Project."

I want to add this computer to the one I already have had going for almost 5 years, but I see no way to do that - nothing to click like "Add a device" - instead BOINC is rejecting my proper username/password and giving me this window. It's been so long since I had to do anything like this that I don't remember how, if I ever knew. All I know is that I want to add this computer, and I'm clueless. Thanks.

Re: Problem adding a device

To add another computer to your account you do not "add a device". You simply download Boinc onto the new computer and then attach to WCG as an existing user using your existing username and password wink

Re: Problem adding a device

I did that. I was presented with choices for management of my stats, and never having seen that before, I chose BAM! because that was the first one. But it's telling me the "User not found or password wrong." But I know they're right - it's how I'm here now. And the new computer doesn't appear in my Device Manager either. So maybe I shouldn't have chosen BAM!? But if so, I don't know how to undo that, except maybe uninstall and reinstall and choosing again, but then I don't know which manager (is that what I'm choosing?) I should choose.

Re: Problem adding a device

When you click Tools/Connect to Project or Account Manager" (free translation into English), you have a possibility to check "Connect to Project" or "Connect to Account Manager".

You have probably checked "Connect to Account Manager", what is wrong. You don't need BAM), nor Extremadura@Home, nor GridRepublic.

Check / Select "Connect to Project", choose WorldCommunityGrid and continue till the last step - your username (or e-mail) and password.

Cheers peace

Ah! On multiple levels! I did "Connect to Account Manager" - seemed logical enough, but then my left brain has been AWOL for, like, years - in fact, I've forgotten all about my left brain, out of sight out of mind. And I didn't want to choose a Project because I wanted the same ones my other computer is working on - but I didn't know that the "Project" wasn't Cancer Markers etc. but all the different computing sites, of which WCG was only one.

So I'm up and running, thanks to you.
Ďakujem vám a šťastný nový rok! (if that's wrong and I've cursed you and your family for all eternity and beyond, blame Bing Translator, not me...)

Re: Problem adding a device

If you are using BAM!, the sign-in name and field seems to be case sensitive so in my case Dadx (or dadx) was never found, I had to enter DadX It took me forever to figure that out. While you don't need an account manager I like managing my projects from any machine and the whole stats thing they do.

Thank you William, I wish you exactly the same biggrin . Whatever you wanted to say, the Bing translated it as a very nice, uncursing wish wink

Cheers peace
