Thinking about buying a multi core workstation for processing when i get back to the US. What are the best options out there? I have minimal computer knowledge but would like to set up a rig that crunches like a superhuman. I saw some HPX workstations that i think had 16 cores or more im not sure. What am I looking at and where should I look to buy one? Prices? Thanks. I have read the posts by RT and keithhenry, and I just came across the following from EVGA to who I have no connection. I just thought you might be interested in what they have to say regarding their Hadron case. I got to the information using the following link: http://www.evgagaming.com/post/2014/03/05/evgas-hadron-case-building-guide.aspx From EVGA: The EVGA Hadron mini ITX case is an impressively small and easy to handle case. It comes with a built-in 500W gold rated power supply, 3 year warranty, and enough space to slide in one power-packed NVIDIA Titan GPU. To make this case even better, the Hadron comes in two types: the Air and the Hydro, so you have the option to liquid cool your mini ITX rig if you want it or keep it air cooled. Although the Hadron is EVGA’s first case, it comes into the game as a formidable opponent in the current market with several bonuses listed earlier that other competitors may not have. If you haven’t checked out reviews already, be sure to do so when you can. The sheer size and capability of this case might inspire you to want to build a mini ITX rig, or at least show you what’s new on the market! This case allows you to cut down on space, thus granting you mobility while still allowing you to keep parts that pack a punch. Thinking about building your own mini ITX rig or have you bought the Hadron and want some tips on putting it together? TeamEVGA has taken the time to put together this great instructional video on putting your PC together using the Hadron case, showing how easy and smooth the process can be. Check out the video below and be sure to share with your friends! If you’ve already built this rig, however, show us what you got by sharing your pictures with us on our Twitter or Facebook pages! Thanks Dave for jogging a few things in my failing memory! First, I owe Chris me looking up these HPX machines he mentions so I can know something about them. Second, with what all you can find these days out there on YouTube, I ought to take the time to do some searching there to see what's there about designing/configuring your own machine. Third, I ought to check out Newegg and maybe Tiger Direct to see what they have to offer in kits. You don't have to configure anything but you get the experience of putting a machine together. That's one very good potential starting point for someone wanting to learn more and end up with a new machine out of it! Besides, from his awesome artistic skills, it would seem he's pretty well acquainted with Mac's and probably is underestimating/modest about his technical skills. ---------------------------------------- [Edit 1 times, last edit by keithhenry at Mar 26, 2014 5:05:16 AM] |

Thank you all for the replies. Getting ready to move back to the states from the land of overpriced korean SAMSUNG everythings and into the more reasonably priced options back home. I never thought really about building a computer but that does seem like a decent option. But that will depend on time. I do know that whatever crazy thing i build or buy I want to still be able to use it as a computer once in a while. Ill have to surf around the net some more and dive onto youtube about people building their own mini super computers. And I appreciate the vote of confidence Keith about my skills but i dont know if they will translate into the computer building category. But Im willing to learn.
