I downloaded the software version 6.10.58 on window 7 operating system. 20 tasks were downloaded and 100% completed. But I can't get connected to the network to report the completed tasks and request for more, and keeps giving me the
scheduler request failed : SSL connect error message Under advanced options connection, there is no set default connection. But I do have internet connection for all other applications. Could somebody help me please and get me out of this loop! I am not sure how I got connected the 1st time around.... |

If you get work, then the base connection is fine. In uploading, port 443 has to be open for a secure connection [https]. You may wish to check your security software if that's the case. Else, refer to several SSL related FAQ topics in Help and Start Here [FAQ index is stickied at top of all forums].

Thank you for your prompt response. The port 443 and 80 appear to check out (I checked in the address bar).
As for the security software, I have MCAFEE installed. The firewall option and under internet connection for programs, the world community grid for windows program has full access and the guard is on. Furthermore, I did not come across a problem like mine in the FAQ index for the SSL. What am I doing wrong?? (I must know!) |

It appears that the problem is solved and the completed files were all sent and new ones were downloaded! I trust when I carried the test for ports 443 and 80, it started to work again. Once again, I appreciate your guidance and response.

Great.
If you're not happy about opening ports in general terms, you could specify with them to only do that for specific IP's www. / secure. Trouble with that is, you might then find for instance e-banking starting to fail. Caution is warranted. P.S. McAfee... I wide circle that project, and I mean wide circle, but often it's not an option to have something else, particular with company comps. I'm most very happy with Alwil's Avast, now on version 2014, gratis. Pop-ups for alerts I always carefully study.. no auto-reflex yes or no and if offered and contend, select the 'Remember selection/choice'. WCG has 5-6 fixed IPs [somewhere in an FAQ... they never change, and include fall-back IPs]. WCG is the only one doing port 443/https. That's what's required to get corporations to sign up and contribute their spare cycles. |
