Hi,
I'm curious how much data you guys move between your machines and the grid on average. For instance I've noticed there is a diagram which shows how much disk space I have available. Since I'm on 3G im just concerned seeing its a couple Gig :) Is this something I should be worried about if I leave my PC running 24/7? Sorry if this is the wrong place to post. Not sure where yet so I'm going for 'chat'. |

za-snappy, welcome to the forums.
I have one quad that I connect to the internet every couple of days by tethering through my Samsung S3 on 4G. It is showing data usage for Boinc as 3.98mb from 11/29 to 12/6. My data plan allows 8gb per month so the Boinc usage is insignificant. I am currently only crunching MCM1 but a project like CEP2 may yield different results. |

The task and result files for FAHV-VINA and FAAH AutoDock are actually very small on a per-hour computing basis. Opposed for CEP2 and MCM it's quite significant [saw a 72MB result file yesterday for a CEP2, but that was 12 hours computing, so 6MB per core per hour].
If you would suffer from MB transfer restrictions you can simply define a budget in the client i.e. 1000 MB per 30 days. The client stops at the point that this budget is reached and then waits till the new period begins. Of course if you have multiple clients, you may need to pro-rate the total allowance. E.g. if you have a duo and a quad, set the duo on 333MB/30days, 667MB/30days for the quad. |

I'm on 3G only, capped at 15 Gb per month, and the WCG data makes little impact on that compared to Windows Update. See Seke's answer above.
