I just watched a wu hit the 12 hour limit when it was at >99.8% complete.
----------------------------------------Now as I thought I would run this rig just on CEP2 for a while, it is no big deal because I can up the clocks a bit and maybe see if that helps but it got me to wondering if it is possible to switch off that limit once past a given percentile? I would have thought this might help matters along but I cannot profess to know how this all works so this is the question posed: would there be any benefit to the project by switching off the hard 12 hour limit once a wu has progressed beyond 90plus percent ?? ![]() |

Too often discussed - no benefit. We're waiting on what CEP2v2 will bring with the new Q-Chem engine. When... maybe sooner, if the priorities have not changed from last time an indication was given.
BTW, the 100% is tuned to happen no later than at 12:00 hours, so no surprise you saw that happening right after hitting 99.8%. |

OK. Until recently, I really paid little attention to such matters. It was just set it up, check for problems then let it crunch for me.
----------------------------------------Watching the progress though, and this was just a chance thing, I would have said it needed another 2 mins to reach 100% based on the previous 2-3%. CEP2v2 sounds interesting....now I'm wondering about this Q-Chem engine you speak of... hoping it is like Vina for CEP ![]() ![]() |

We've just entered a series of very short tasks, where all 16 jobs are being computed [not good for relative efficiency as there's proportionally more time spend in setting up the models]. For the CEP2 only devices, or those doing multiple concurrent it's a good time to do boot and maintenance sequences. Little time lost in reverting to previous checkpoint. Me octo is getting through them serially in under 2 hours... valid, no skipping to the end.

I'm seeing the same thing on a laptop here, Rob. I guess it's nice to see all the jobs completed, but it comes at the cost of what you have described.

I just started running CEP2 WUs expecting my usual 12 hour limit and saw that both that ran today got done in less than 1/2 the 12 hour limit. Nice to see that the techs managed to get these WUs cut down a bit in size so they can actually get done in a one day run on my laptop.....

The project just happens to be analyzing some smaller molecules at the moment. Cheers

Saying that though, the techs have just 'upped' the timelimit from 12 hours to 18 - so that should help with those who were just missing out on getting WU's completely completed in time.
