Boinc in Ubuntu: project servers may be down

Hi everyone!

I noticed that my Ubuntu computer is not uploading any data and instead it is reporting the following error message:
Mon 02 Dec 2013 02:51:33 PM EET - Internet access OK - project servers may be temporarily down.

In the same location I also have an Windows machine and that one works just fine. Does anyone know what is the problem?

Thanks,
Marius

Re: Boinc in Ubuntu: project servers may be down

Hi Marius,

It's something that pops up at times [and more often on Linux with WIFI]. Could be the server is very busy/slow and the connection timing out. Just let is sit and if it does not go away boot your router/modem and comp.

If WIFI, you can execute a command in terminal:

sudo iwconfig wlan0 power off

This will stabilize the WIFI [Have never tried on cabled devices, but the command would then be:

sudo iwconfig lan0 power off.

There was one member last week who found his router switch was slow and causing this. Check to comp to router speed.

Internet connection is working fine on this computer (I'm also running an apache server and that works at good speeds). Meanwhile I restarted the BOINC manager and now upload/download works again.
