Join World Community Grid's newest project, Mapping Cancer Markers, to power the search for molecular markers that will help researchers detect cancer earlier and design more effective treatments. An initiative from the Princess Margaret Cancer Center (the same center that ran
Help Conquer Cancer on World Community Grid from 2007 to 2013), this new project will scan data from thousands of tissue samples from various patients with lung, ovarian, prostate, pancreatic or breast cancer, as well as healthy controls. It aims to identify characteristic chemical “markers” that are associated with each type of cancer. With this knowledge, researchers and physicians will be able to identify cancers earlier, identify high-risk patients, select treatments that are likely to benefit a particular patient, and improve this line of research for other types of cancer in the future.
If you’ve been involved in cancer research already, here’s a great chance to continue the fight. If this is your first time, there’s never been a better chance to get involved. Visit your
