Re: New team on the block!

Also I had to cash out a large number of XRP to pay for the cluster, so I really haven't done nearly as well as I could have. But yes, the initial ratios were extremely generous.

How and where did you do that?

Re: New team on the block!

The Ripple forums have piles of information on questions, such as "Trading Help": https://ripple.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=5&am...80d92e1e6f6708603b82a6618

Re: New team on the block!

Not sure about clever, brave maybe smile

It's worth bearing in mind that the USD/XRP was 6x lower than what it is now, so the risks at the time were higher. Also I had to cash out a large number of XRP to pay for the cluster, so I really haven't done nearly as well as I could have. But yes, the initial ratios were extremely generous.

It's also worth considering that in a week's time the same thing could happen to the USD/XRP exchange rate, given the current Chinese demand. It's all a game, but a fun game.

No-one on this forum has anything to lose from temporarily switching to the Ripple Labs team, so why not engage in a bit of CPU speculation :-)

You could topple IBM too smile

I'm happy for you and I mean that. Nice to see someone cover their costs while also getting the work done.
My question though still remains unanswered: Pick a machine whose output we can all understand such as a 2600K based machine for example and if that machine was put on WCG drawing it's average 100% load of say 190W putting out say 40,000 WCG PPD what would it realise from joining this team in terms of payout? IE: Does the payout cover the electrical costs?

Re: New team on the block!

A single cc2.8xlarge EC2 instance yields 123,582 WCG points a day
and costs $7.284/day at minimum spot instance price including 20% VAT

The daily payout in XRP is a function of the amount of WCG points generated by the team as a whole and the amount Ripple Labs has decided to distribute for that day.

You can't pay for electricity or EC2 instance with XRP, so you have to convert to USD. The amount you'll receive is a function of the exchange rate at the time of sale, the exchange fees and charges for transferring USD to your native currency.

So you see, I can't give a straight answer to your question. It's a speculative game. There was a point yesterday when the exchange rate was 10XRP=1USD, if that motivates you :-)

Thank you for the information and I understand that you can't give exacts with so many variables but what you provided does provide enough to make informed decisions.

Re: New team on the block!

The XRP distributions covering the last four days completed not long ago. The announcement and details can be found at https://ripple.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=18&t=4611

Ripple Labs said that "Going forward, we will try our best to do daily disbursements. If we miss a day, though, we'll distribute that day's allocation in the next disbursement, like we're doing today."

Re: New team on the block!

Same here, no XRP earned however I just joined yesterday. Perhaps patience is needed. Hopefully someone's keeping track.
